2nd seems high to me given our unknows, so hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Not an unfair take. Same for JMU. They lost more offensively than we did and they are first, (although bot received 4 1st place votes). What does that say about the rest of the east?

True I wasn’t even really thinking of what the others lost. Everyone in the east ahas a lot of questions this season.

I'm quickly starting to dislike the JMU Dorks too. I've never seen a group of people who can join in a conversation and quickly make it about them no matter what the topic. Very irritating people.

Crazy we have 0 players on 1st or 2nd team defense. Not really surprising though, I'm guessing McLeod would have been on there.

Surprised not to see Bucky's name on the 2nd team offense though, seems to be getting a lot of accolades elsewhere. He had a 0.5% missed block percentage last year or something crazy like that.

Clark has done a horrible job of recruiting. He just lived off players that were here u til the coffers were dry...

We just had two of the best SBC recruiting cycles back to back years, and he’s landed our highest rated recruits ever…

What makes you think this? His first full class is hitting its third year in the system which is where you start to see guys contribute. The thing with playing younger guys, isn’t always a talent issue as much as a developmental issue. And I’m not talking about coaching, I’m talking about getting their bodies and minds mature enough to handle the grind of college football. Teams at our level rarely get that instant plug and play guy out of high school.

Let’s see what guys like Arnholt, McKnight, White, Stroman and Larkins do this year before we question whether or not Clark can recruit.

Yeah, recruiting hasn't been an issue. Clark has done as well as any coach we've ever had at recruiting (in my opinion). We've had some gaps but much of that has been caused by injuries (always an issue for all programs) and portal losses (new issue that previous coaches never had to deal with on the same scale).

I understand folks being frustrated with last year, but I wish folks could stop with the random barbs at every opportunity. The season is approaching and I think all App Fans want things back on track. My (admittedly homer) opinion is that the Apps will be back in the mix where we belong.

Probably so, but I remember our fans knowing Apps role for at least the first few years. JMUs early success brought out some extreme arrogance. Heck, even G Southern were reasonable in their first year of great success.

Last year was a step back no doubt, but what is the downward trend? Two years ago we won 10 games and went to the SBC Championship game. I know we didn't win the conference or a bowl but it was hardly a downward trend.

Looking at last season as any indication of 2023 is a mistake. Our defense will have like 6 new starters to replace a group that largely underperformed. We got bigger, faster and longer in the portal and within the program itself. We are a new team with depth at much more positions.
