Re: NIL & College football
There are certainly different ways of going about it. I still think it's important to get more people involved with the Yosef Club who may not be candidates for a full slate of season tickets. (It could be one block of 500-1000 seats in the corner of the stadium on a limited basis). Once they are gone, they are gone, but give an option.AppWyo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 9:54 pmWhat they really need to do is cut concession prices, instead of one slow nickel, how about five fast pennies?WASU 93 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 5:12 pmSeason tickets are a great deal. However, for those alumni with school-age kids who are active on the weekends, season tickets are not really an option. We do need to look at family-friendly options. Perhaps, you join the Yosef Club for $200-$250 and you can buy a family package for another $250 for a family of 3-6 people that includes a football game of your choice from a pool of the FCS games and a Saturday conference game like Texas State, ULM, Georgia State and post-Chadwell Coastal Carolina, a Saturday basketball game in November, December, January and February and Jr. Mountaineer membership for the kids. Include remote parking with family activities for the Football Game with AppalCart transportation to the stadium.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 3:02 pmI wish I could agree with you on ticket pricing. But this is one of the best values in all of CFB. Season tickets are only $250 plus a donation unless you sit in the hoity-toity section. That’s about $42 a ticket. In my opinion it’s an amazing deal.

It is important to get more people involved in YC, but I’m not sure how setting aside a block of tickets to non members would create members.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 5:36 pmThere are certainly different ways of going about it. My original post was to create a family friendly Annual package that included joining the Yosef Club at a $200 or $250 level and then getting a package that was not a full season of football tickets, but a mixture of a choice of tickets to lower demand Football games and weekend basketball games, without the hassle of finding football parking once up the Mountain.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 6:16 pmIt is important to get more people involved in YC, but I’m not sure how setting aside a block of tickets to non members would create members.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 5:36 pmThere are certainly different ways of going about it. Re: NIL & College football
Not opposed to it. But todays fans want something that meets THEIR needs. That’s not a dig, but I am of the opinion, based on the historical conversations on this board, is that people that would be willing to donate would want to have something more tangible than an opportunity to get tickets to a couple of football games and basketball. They can go to basketball at any point as tickets are easily accessible.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 10:44 pmMy original post was to create a family friendly Annual package that included joining the Yosef Club at a $200 or $250 level and then getting a package that was not a full season of football tickets, but a mixture of a choice of tickets to lower demand Football games and weekend basketball games, without the hassle of finding football parking once up the Mountain.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 6:16 pmIt is important to get more people involved in YC, but I’m not sure how setting aside a block of tickets to non members would create members.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 5:36 pmThere are certainly different ways of going about it. It’s not a bad idea, but we need to create demand that exceeds supply, which we seem to be doing. We seem to have trouble satisfying the masses that want to be involved. There is a need to keep tue current base engaged that is just as important as getting new members.

Re: NIL & College football
College football is very popular right now, but I think people running it, not just at App, have to be very careful. I see a lot of similarities to what happened with NASCAR; white hot popularity, everyone was interested, demand for tickets exceeded supply. NASCAR chased the spotlight and alienated its longtime core fan base. Now they are running to mostly empty venues and are trying to win back the people they ran off. I see a lot of this happening in college football; the longtime core fan is being displaced. I hope the people making the decisions are paying attention.

Re: NIL & College football
That's why I suggest we make it special. Give them the opportunity to experience the perks of being a season ticket holder without having to commit to the full season. Give them a couple of games to choose from for their one football game that they can fit into their busy Fall schedule. Then, make it a great family tailgate, set up a kids fun zone with inflatables, Yosef, possibly a food truck, etc. Leverage the AppalCart to bring them in from a remote lot (and run it back to the lot frequently, knowing that some families will only make it into the third quarter). Then, make the Saturday basketball games events. Sure tickets are readily available, but set up the kids zone again, have a pre-game or post game shoot-around, cheerleading/dance team clinic, food trucks or deeply discounted concessions. Add halftime entertainment, face painting in the corridor, maybe even a sponsored T-Shirt. Tie it in with Hawksnest Snow Tubing and have an App State family exclusive time blocked out pre or post game at a discounted rate. Tie it in to Tweetsie Christmas with a similar program. Tie it in to the Theater Department and have an Arts and Sports Day.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 8:24 amNot opposed to it. But todays fans want something that meets THEIR needs. It’s not a bad idea, but we need to create demand that exceeds supply, which we seem to be doing. We seem to have trouble satisfying the masses that want to be involved. There is a need to keep tue current base engaged that is just as important as getting new members.
Throw in membership for the kids to an enhanced Jr. Moutaineer Club. And, add two "We're an App State Family" decals for the family vehicles.
App gets more Young Alumni Yosef Club members which is a good investment for the long haul. (And who may buy more tickets, outside of Family time). Also, increased basketball attendance. The family may not make the trip up the mountain for just a basketball game.
Set the program up, where the Families get a ton of value and fun for their $$$ and make it hassle free (hence, why it's important to tie in parking and transportation to the football game).
We create demand that exceeds supply when it comes to Football and parking. Beyond that, we have room to grow.
And, I agree that we need to keep the current base engaged. Hopefully, we can do both simultaneously.

Man! You have put a great deal of thought in this and there are a lot of fantastic ideas in here. Well done. I don’t want this to be a negative response because there really is a lot of fantastic ideas here. So I will respond in a manner of what is the answers to the questions that the administration will undoubtedly have. In my professional career of Risk Evaluation, the response from management in regards to risk mitigation and implementation are always, “how much is this going to cost?”, “What is the ROI?”.
“Give them an the opportunity to experience the perks of being a season ticket holder without having to commit to the full season.” How do you do this without devaluing the perks of those that are invested as actual season ticket holders?
All of the ideas are great but what do they cost us upfront versus what can we expect to get back in the both short term versus the long term?
Football is the driver of everything and people want to be a part of that. Basketball and baseball have the same problem to solve in that people have to want to come see them.
Given that we just sold out 6 of 7 home games at the Rock this year, Generating fan engagement isn’t the issue. The issue is getting people to donate money. I see the ideas above as being viewed as, “the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.” I am interested to see how season ticket sales go this year. Apparently there is an extensive waiting list.

Dovetailing on 94's post, App fans have been pushing ideas like this for a long time.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:40 pmMan! Some folks who frequent this board even got together last spring and built out a plan for a FanFest-type event centered around a spring football practice.
This was presented to the Athletics folks, who said they were interested...and then nothing happened.

Access to guaranteed parking seems to be a BIG wish for most people. I understand admin is looking at this situation now. Boone just doesn’t have that much flat surface available.

More parking decks and RV parking are on the way. Will be lean next year due to construction, but without a UNC game, the demand wont be at an all time high.
