He played throughout the game. Sacked the QB.

Re: Marshall Game
From my personal view that I’ve witnessed, Brice is clearly the best passing QB APP has ever had all the way back to Randy Joyce…and likely before....period
He can stretch the field better than any we’ve had.
Of course, we know what the GOAT could do.

For me it is in general. We kept letting them start from the 35. Then the big one.
Just kick the darn thing in the end zone.

If it were that easy, I guess everyone would do it. We had one touchback, two long returns, one saved by the kicker, and then we kicked to avoid the big return.

If Zak didn’t regress then we would have gone undefeated last year so I’m not going to act like he’s better than Brice. I think Brice is better but that’s not the pointmountaineerman wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 11:33 pmI guess it doesn’t matter really. Chase is our guy Zak isn’t. We’re 3-1 and honestly should be 4-0. What’s the point in this post? Didn’t realize Zac Thomas was on the bench because of Chase Brice.

That’s what I meant as well. Ideally you kick it just the right height to about the 2 and the return guy doesn’t reach the 25. Of course a whole lot has to go right so eliminate the drama and blast it into the endzone.

Nate was huge in the second half, but they were letting him score (well, trying to). Sutton was the MVP in my mind.

Lots of folks to choose from for the game MVP, and Sutton is a good choice. But the letting him score comment was absurd. Were they letting him score with 4 mins on the clock and backed up against our own endzone? We’re on our 10 yard line and he broke a tackle in the backfield to get a first down. Was stopped for a loss on one play and got another first down the next play deep in our end.appstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 9:37 pmNate was huge in the second half, but they were letting him score (well, trying to). Re: Marshall Game
I was hugely disappointed with the officiating Thursday evening.
App fans don't typically whine about bad officiating (we leave that to ECU fans). But had we lost the game, there would have been an outcry across App Nation about bad calls.
Also, when he was making calls it was very difficult to hear what the Referee was saying. And we were watching on TV. Much room for improvement here.

Re: Marshall Game
Yes. A lot of his 5 step drops were turning into 3 and 4 step drops and timing was way off. Bryce was actually making a lot of good throws under the circumstances. He was being decisive and not holding the ball to just get sacked. I actually liked Ponce gameplan, but when Marshall's line was eating up ours, we should've gone to some more 3 step drops and quick hits. Henni and Sutton can do damage with those just as well. Just armchair QB fodder.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 6:46 amBrice had little to no time for some of his throws-Marshall really got after him. That led to some of the less accurate tosses. I also think he was playing on a bit of a bum ankle, which didn’t help. All in all though, I thought he played very well. He would have been killed if it was Duke against Marshall last night.

Re: Marshall Game
No. Let me clarify. Noel was incredible to open that drive and really put the dagger in them with those early off tackle runs. But when he got to that midfield position, from my perspective at the Game, you could tell their defense was letting up in hopes of a quick score. I've seen it done every Saturday and Sunday, and even done it myself coaching 7 on 7, and it's a good gameplan. The last 2 runs he broke were against that defense. Noel has been one of my favorites since late last year. He runs hard and with authority and love his change of pace to People's. To me, Corey was gutting out routes on that blanket coverage and helped us significantly with pass interferences he drew and then the absolutely nasty snag in the corner over top the Marshall defender. Those were the momentum shifters for me.proasu89 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 7:01 amLots of folks to choose from for the game MVP, and Sutton is a good choice. Re: Marshall Game
Brice’s throws over the middle were incredible. Better passer than ZT but running ain’t his thing. His touch throws to the end zones are excellent. A couple long throws were short and receivers bailed him out. I think he’s giving us a dimension we sorely needed

Re: Marshall Game
I think Brice is a better runner than we are giving him credit for. He is capable of running the read option and keeping the defense honest. He had one misread on that but it happens to even the best option qbs. He isn’t going to break off a long TD but he has shown he can get first downs with his legs.

Re: Marshall Game
The only run Nate had where they didn’t try to tackle him was the last one. During the time out you could read both coaches lips. Marshall coach clearly said dont tackle and SC was saying dont score.

Re: Marshall Game
Regarding the officiating, it did seem questionable at time, but I think it kind of went both ways. There are absolutely some App fans who complain about officiating but that makes us exactly like every other fan base. There are times when it's absolutely deserved. There was a Coastal fan on the Sunbelt (CSNBBS) board who kept saying how App only won because we got 10 points from bad calls in our favor. Most of the folks over there were great sports about it (yes, even the visiting Marshall fans). I would say it makes me want to curb stomps the Chants even more than I did before, but I don't think that's possible.
Also, don't want to call anyone out individually but I've seen at least two App fans on here spelling our QB's name with a "y". Come on, guys. His name is Chase Brice. The last name is on his jersey and we're now 4 games into the season. Let's try to get his name right.
