Re: Are we a top 25 team?
When you lose the best player on one side of the ball and teams like VT have such impressive wins I would completely understand if they drop us.AppInDC wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 12:46 pmI won't pretend that I know what the CFP committee will do, but dropping a team out of the top 25 because they lost a player when they still won by three touchdowns would be a terrible decision. Especially since Alabama was not similarly punished after losing Tua.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 12:33 pmWith the news on Sutton I feel like the committee should not rank us. Without him we probably should fall out. I hope we stay but without our best player and the one guy who can dominate a P5 secondary I feel like we probably deserve to slide out.appst89 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:45 amI said this very thing yesterday. I think it is a very real possibility that we are not ranked at all on Tuesday.ah59396 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 12:53 amIll say this:
We should all be very prepared for App to be leapfrogged by:
Virginia Tech (8-3)
Virginia (8-3)
Wake Forest (8-3)
All won.
If you think the committee is gonna send an unranked team to the ACC Championship to play Clemson, you’re on acid.
I’m preparing myself for the reality that we may not even be ranked, at 10-1. Hope I’m wrong.

Re: Are we a top 25 team?
Based on the fact we don't have Sutton and ULL has looked scary good lately it would not shock me if voters started to think ULL is going to beat us. I don't expect to beat Troy badly and I'll just be glad to win the game but I may flip that opinion if we destroy them like ULL did.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 3:28 pmOther thing I’ll say is, while we didn’t look very good yesterday, again on the full body of work point: Are you really going to drop a 10-1 team at least two spots following a 22-point win in crappy weather, when the team right behind us lost and no other candidates to be ranked had any huge statement wins?
Like if A&M had beaten Georgia, sure. But nothing like that happened.
Troy is a trap game. It is a short week, on the road, against a team who we kept from going to the SBC title game last year so they want revenge, and I'm sure our guys will look at the score and feel like we should be good to beat Troy badly since we beat ULL before. This game scares me big time. We are the better team but this is the type of game that trips up good teams sometimes.

Re: Are we a top 25 team?
There are legit arguments for dropping us. Sutton’s injury, as of now, is not one of them.
Sure it hurts. But we’ve played 2.5 games without him. In the two full games, we scored 98 points. (Yes one was ETSU, but we also scored 56 on an FBS team that’s going bowling.) We also pulled away without him yesterday.
If we lose a game without Sutton, they can drop us then. If not, that should be plenty of proof that we warrant a ranking even in his absence.

Re: Are we a top 25 team?
I love Sutton and agree he's our best receiver and most exciting player with his high-light reel catches but I don't think he's our best player necessarily. If Zac went down we'd be in majorly serious trouble, if Evans went down we'd be in serious trouble but I think we'll be able to get through at least the next two games without Sutton. Perhaps we don't win by 30 or more points but we still have a better than good shot at winning both.
We have many weapons in our arsenal and most teams are dealing with injuries at this point in the season.

Re: Are we a top 25 team?
This is the last regular season game and everyone is fully aware of the importance and it is absolutely not a trap game. There is no way in hell that the team won’t be focused. We might not blow them out but for crying out loud they just got destroyed and they are 5-6.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 5:01 pmBased on the fact we don't have Sutton and ULL has looked scary good lately it would not shock me if voters started to think ULL is going to beat us. Re: Are we a top 25 team?
Dayum right we r a top 25 team. And we r gonna beat Troy.
At this level, no such thing as style points.
Any point more than one point more than App’s opponent scores IS WASTED !!! Just beat who’s across the line.
BTW, Noah Hannah should get style points for his block on the DT where he drove him into Apps bench and ended with a punch to Hannahs head for 15 yd penalty !!!!!!!! Whooiieee that was a great play and may have been the turning point of the game.

Re: Are we a top 25 team?
Extremely disappointed this thread hasn’t been locked or deleted. Terrible look for App State. Recruits and players read this forum all the time, I can’t believe most of the comments in this thread. Y’all are making us seem like the most entitled fan base ever. So many complaints about WINNING a game, convincingly at that. A spread of 30 points for a rain soaked game was laughable. We allowed one touchdown and scored 5 touchdowns on TXST, that is a clobbering even in good weather.
All three major polls have us ranked in the top 25. Under no circumstance will the CFP de-rank us for more than handling buisness. We climbed a spot after GAST and they were beating us 21-7 in the 1ST QUARTER!!! TXST never held a lead on us and it wasn’t a close game at all when it was all said and done.
Can a admin or moderator please lock this thread. This is harmful to recruiting and general fan moral. We are 10-1 and already have plenty of threads about rankings.
I don’t know how y’all can be so negative when we are winning soooo many games with a new coaching staff. I’ve stopped checking this site ever since this this thread was created. It’s a shame to find it still going and still featured on the main page.

Re: Are we a top 25 team?
Just chill dude. Its OK. We are entitled. We r mountaineers.
All seriousness aside, I need to correct my earlier post; it was #30, a LB not a DT that Noah Hannah drove into the sidelines.

Every fan base has a chat board where they vent frustrations. Every single one.
My question is... did anyone watch the Cincinnati
Vs. Temple game last night??? We are right in the mix and would easily handle Cincinnati.

Re: Are we a top 25 team?
We used to fight to get ranked, now the fan base is debating if we are even worthy of it. Am I really the only one that finds that silly? We need to soak up the national spotlight while we can. If we aren’t worth the ranking, we will prove it by losing one of our next 3 games. If we are top 25, we will win out.General Moore wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 9:29 pmEvery fan base has a chat board where they vent frustrations. Every single one.

I agree though, I think we would handle cincy, they have not looked impressive to me this year. Boise St looked better this past game but I’ve watched them struggle and think we could beat them too. Memphis looks strong, would be a good game between them and App.

“I’ve stopped checking this site ever since this thread was created.” Wow, looks like you made it a full 24 hours, unbelievable sacrifice. Thoughts and prayers man.
As for all the recruits ditching us bc of this thread... that’s your imagination.

Thanks! Seriously though, people like coming on here after a win and this is what we are greeted with? You would have thought we lost a game with all the negative posts on here.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 9:50 pm“I’ve stopped checking this site ever since this thread was created.” Wow, looks like you made it a full 24 hours, unbelievable sacrifice. As for the recruits, maybe this thread had zero impact, or maybe it did. We are recruiting kids to a top 25 program, if they come on here and see that the fan base doesn’t even believe that, it can totally impact a decision. If you don’t think players, coaches, staff, recruits, parents etc visit this site, then you are kidding yourself.

Its a forum, exactly the purpose it was created is to discuss. You may not like the topic, just don't participate. Or as you say, just dont check this site. Re: Are we a top 25 team?
People should know that even in a 30 point win you can find some things to improve on. I think we have a lot of folks who hope we strive for perfection. Until we actually win a conference title and accomplish our goals it is hard to be complacent and satisfied.guitarstrat82 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:02 pmThanks! We are having a very good year so far but we still have all of our goals to accomplish.
Recruits should know that App State is a great place, very good education, great football culture, and we the fans support our program very well. We truly are among the best G5 programs and will give players a better chance to win than 60%, maybe 75%, of the P5 programs will give them. Players can also make it to the NFL and get plenty of media exposure at App. We are truly a great place to come to. If players are discouraged by fans seeing things we can improve on then they aren't mentally tough and probably don't need to come here.
We aren't the only school like that. South Carolina, Alabama, UNC, Clemson, Georgia, and everyone else has the same things happen. So if that is going to keep us from getting a kid then nobody else would get them either.

That is at least the 3rd game he has done that. The one at Georgia State got Drink's ear cut. He also took South Carolina's top 10 DL to the sidelines too. Better watch out when he gets mad. Might be on the small side, but he makes up for it. YaaaaAppAlum1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 6:57 pmDayum right we r a top 25 team. And we r gonna beat Troy.

OK, I was thinking about some smarmy a$$ed response to your "sky is falling" musings, then I thought better of it, then I changed my mind. Is your last name Little?
The reason I keep reading and posting on this here message board is because of the various opinions and dichotomous viewpoints that might be found here. I may even agree with some of them. And, the BEST part is that even those who are not as enlightened as I am or who have not been to as many App. State football games as I have, can jump in and post anything they want. Sometimes I learn stuff, other times, I get a good laugh. When the day arrives that everyone on here posts only positive, namby-pamby BS, that is the day I stop reading and stop posting.
Those who are far wiser than posters on the MMB are those who are actually in charge of the football program at App.
All will be well! App's doing great!
Re: Are we a top 25 team?
I saw the S.C. one on replay, although I was at the game. And, at GaSt, I was right behind the team in the stands, so I have no idea how I missed that. The TV replay did not seem to catch it either. It was in the first half though, because I saw the white tape at halftime. At the Texas State game, I was looking right at him when the LB hit him in the helmet. The whole stadium erupted; and fortunately we did not have the SEC refs., so the appropriate penalty was called on only one team. Also, I was listening to the game on the radio live time, and the color announcer, Sims McElfresh, had JUST said something about Hannon's pancake blocks; reference to IHOP. Great timing there.AppState89 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 11:08 amThat is at least the 3rd game he has done that. The one at Georgia State got Drink's ear cut. Oh please. Are you new to internet college football forums? They are all the same. Everywhere. Recruits couldn't care less what a few blowhards on a forum think. In any event forum is overwhelmingly supportive of the team and it's players.guitarstrat82 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 9:15 pmOk man, I’ll just chill and watch all these recruits go to a more appreciative fan base...good call there.
