Because believe it or not, we could go undefeated and finish as a top 15 team and still go to the NO Bowl.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 5:59 pmHow can we not be projected for the NO bowl at this point? Idiotic...

It’s clear by now these guys and others don’t bother to learn how the selection process works at the G5 level.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 5:59 pmHow can we not be projected for the NO bowl at this point? Idiotic...

It would do us all well to NOT have a bowl destination thread. We will all go nuts because it is what it is.

Because they know so little about the lower tier bowls, they still have no clue the SB champ gets the auto bidNattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 5:59 pmHow can we not be projected for the NO bowl at this point? Idiotic...

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Like another poster said, this will change so much. We could go undefeated and still not end up in a NY6 Bowl. These projections are pointless for now and should be taken with a grain of salt. We will go nuts trying to pick this so early. Come late November we will have a good idea but nobody has a clue now.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 7:00 pmIt’s clear by now these guys and others don’t bother to learn how the selection process works at the G5 level.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 5:59 pmHow can we not be projected for the NO bowl at this point? Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Sure, but the point is that these projections have us going to Mobile while at least one of them had Georgia State going to NOLA. I think we can make an educated guess that that isn't going to happen.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 7:43 pmLike another poster said, this will change so much. Which do you think is more likely, that they actually believe GSU is going to win the conference, or that they just don't know anything about the selection order or the auto bid to New Orleans?

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Was the deal to make the NO Bowl the destination for the SB champ a permanent thing? Looking back at last year's announcement again, it only mentioned the 2018 game. https://sunbeltsports.org/news/2018/11/ ... -bowl.aspx
And the press release about this year's game only mentions teams from the SB and CUSA. No mention of champions. https://crescentcitysports.com/2019-rl- ... cember-21/
I only see one source that references the bowl as a game involving the SBC championship, and that's the New Orleans visitors' bureau website (and could be wrong): https://www.neworleans.com/event/r%2Bl- ... bowl/3229/

I could actually see either one being the case. Many of these random websites are run by fans who pull stuff out of their butts. They don't know anymore than the rest of us.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 9:13 pmSure, but the point is that these projections have us going to Mobile while at least one of them had Georgia State going to NOLA. I would not be shocked if they think Georgia State is going to play well in the second half of the season and beat us. I know ESPN is one who even doubts us. They thought we would lose 3-4 games this year, like many did.
I remember on here when I said 11-1 or 12-0 regular is what our goal should be and anything less than 10 wins is not acceptable. So many were quick to point to our coaching change and the CBs and Stout being gone and say we could lose 4 games. I expect to go undefeated by taking it one game at a time. Many outlets still think we should lose a couple games.

Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
I think it's one of those obvious destinations. Outside of a NY6 game, the highest honor of an invite for a SBC team is the NO Bowl. If we're supposedly the best in the league and projected to be the conference champion, even a bean counter who calls us Appalaychun State should figure out the conference champion goes to this game.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 7:43 pmLike another poster said, this will change so much. Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
Anyone notice the Sun Belt has the same number of ranked teams as the ACC?

Maybe they don't think we will be the conference champ. I'm not disagreeing with you but pointing out perhaps they think we will still lose two conference games or lose the SBC title game?hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 12:33 pmI think it's one of those obvious destinations. Re: Top 25 Watch (real thread)
I hope the doubters keep underestimating us. They simply don't care about the new kid who just moved into their neighborhood. We are the awkward, undersized, red headed kid who walks up to the old gang and says, "Hey fellas! My name is Yosef. Can I play with you guys!?!" When they finally stop laughing we are picked because we wouldn't go away. "Throw it to me! I'm wide open!" Nothing! But we persevere. We tackle "the big kid" and he gets made fun of. Couldn't have been anything we did, he just tripped. But then we make another play...and another...until the gang starts to think "maybe this kid ain't so bad". That's where we are with some people. But we will keep coming back to the field every week. We will get better. We will keep making plays until one day they will say "I'm pickin' first and I want Yosef on my team! That kid's got game!" That's where we want to be, but we aren't there yet. In the mean time, I'm happy to be on the field (or in the conversation) with those guys until it is undeniable we belong. And I will enjoy the hell out of the journey to get there!AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 5:46 pmMaybe they don't think we will be the conference champ.
