I always found it funny that a little FCS call up fanbase thought they could disrespect it's new conference mates with the name BS. (Especially since our media guys go out of their way to pronounce your name properly, when most of the country still doesn't care enough to get it right.)

Keep whining about your precious Rock. Keep whining about what the endzones will look like. It won't matter much, because we'll be the only ones seeing the endzones. I've been reading this board (while waiting an hour between each post) and laughing my ass off. When we visited Boone, I was impressed by your fans. Very polite and welcoming. I came away thinking you people were a respectable bunch. But after 5 minutes on this board, I quickly realized I was mistaken. I guess the App St dork society is a bit different than the real life fans we met at the stadium.

Someone mentioned this was the best App St team ever.. If that's the case, I question how good you guys have really been. I wasn't impressed with App St at all, and I watched every down in person. No where near a top 25 team, as Ga Southern proved on national TV.

FTR, I thought last year was the best team you've fielded since being called up. JMO

you thought wrong. We have far more skill-position weapons and a stingier defense this year, even after losing the best RB in the Belt. The Ga Southern, Coastal and ULL games were anomalies. My only concern is with the penalties we've picked up late in the season. The only thing that this year's team lacks is lots of experience. We are the 2nd youngest FBS team.

Actually, a lot of people have no idea that you prefer to be called that. You are "The University of Louisiana at Lafayette," are you not? And you've only been that for less than 20 years, no?

It's not disrespect. (Mostly not, anyway.) You're still as unfamiliar to some of our fans as we are to some of yours.

At any rate, The University of Texas - Austin is widely known as Texas, not the entire academic name. We are the same.

nah, you're not the same. Texas is the flagship school in the state of TX and everyone knows that. LSU is your flagship school, although their admissions are much more lax than most states' flagship universities would be, much like many other SEC schools.

Your defense has been "stingy" because you've feasted on AWFUL offenses the entire year. Good offenses move the ball on App. Hell, Ga Southern is ranked 114 in the country in total offense and they ran clean over you guys.

Funny you should mention penalties, because they played a big role in our first meeting. Crucial fouls at crucial moments in that game.

It's all in good fun, as I've stated my views on your fans (well, at least the ones that I met in person - your key board jockey supporters are very different) and your program. When I've been engaged about the game(s), I've responded in kind. When my program or my people have been disrespected, I have responded in kind.

The name and moniker of the academic side of the institution and the athletic program are widely known to be different on first reference. "Texas Longhorns" is the nickname of the athletic program, as is "Louisiana Ragin Cajuns". In that way, we are similar.

Also, our admissions are higher than LSUA&M. You read that correctly. Please spare me the flagship lecture. LSUA&M is an embarrassment to this state, and has been for a long time.

again, GS was an anomaly. Many factors contributed to that loss, including losing our starting QB and best LB early in the game. I guarantee you they don't beat us under normal circumstances. You mentioned our d feasting on awful offenses, but also mentioned in another post that Ark St has the best offense in the league. Go back and check how they did against us. I'll save you some time, they did not score a touchdown.

I've been impressed with what Napier has done in his first season and would expect good things to come, before he too takes another job. I thought we might see you guys again after playing you the first time, largely due to decent coverage of our receivers compared to other SB teams. But, let's be honest, we've owned you guys, even while transitioning into FBS a few years ago..and it's never been much of a challenge. The first game this year felt like we were winning easily, just not putting many points on the board. When I think of ULL football, all I can picture is fat linemen who struggle to move. That's the first thing I noticed in 2014 (along with much of the SB) when compared to our guys.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but I don't think you'll get many to agree with you on last year's team being better than this year's. App sputtered through a big chunk of our games (injuries were a problem but still) losing to both UMass and ULM. No doubt that, from a perspective of the App v Cajun games, last year's team looked like more of a power house. The last 4 games is when we finally got some things rolling and they did look good. Just remember how bad last year's version of the Cajuns was playing. By your own assertion, they had given up and didn't want to be there. Hudspeth sucked and didn't have the team prepared. Napier has done a great job of getting things headed back in the right direction, but 6 weeks ago you played us one week after we lost our superstar RB and the week before we played our arch-rival on a short week's prep.

App played an incredibly conservative game last time for the reasons stated above. UL has a dangerous offense, so we played the clock management strategy. Our passing game was "off" and you still couldn't stop us. Kudos to the much maligned Cajun DBs for choosing that game to step up and play good physical ball. It seemed to be the turning point for that unit.

I don't think Saturday is a formality, but if App loses, it's a huge upset. Eyes on the prize. By the way, I don't expect ANY Louisiana fan (or player) to concede before the game is played. Teams / fans like that are pathetic, and Louisiana is not pathetic in 2018 (2017 game was). I expect a good game, but I also expect App to cover on this one.

I get what you're trying to prove about the name of your school, but you guys have no history compared to Carolina (UNC-Chapel Hill), Texas (Austin), California (Berkley), etc. You're still a regional school, better known as Southwestern Louisiana. It's not apples to apples.
