I think App has a very strong fan base. But...i think sometimes the hardcores don't consider the difficulty of traveling, parking, walking and seating in boone. As a tarheel raised fan who converted to the good side, and has attended games at ECU, Wake, Duke, UNC and State I can say that boone is the biggest hassle and it's not close. Hard to find parking if you don't hold season tickets, a tough walk for older fans or families with young children, and the possibility of sitting on a hill as a general admission ticket holder is tough. If we had a few more parking decks and 30,000 seats I believe we would sell out 30,000. This message is not for hardcore fans, but no stadium is all hardcore fans. We have averaged over capacity every season except 2014 for 11 years. We just need more seats.

I fully expect a packed house this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout for Troy by both students and other fans...and the Rock was loud!! Lets add 6K-10K to the Troy crowd and support this team as they roll to the Championship.

I predict 26,896.

If anyone ever needs a parking pass, I’ll give mine up for HH lot. I usually park at a friend’s house on Stadium Dr, so as long as he is still good with me parking there, my parking pass is free to anybody who needs it for a family visit or something.

I was travelling for the game in October and missed that game. Did they bring any fans for that game? It'll be interesting to see how many people they bring for this one. Anyone with any insight on how many tickets they've sold of their allotment? I'm assuming they get an allotment of tickets?

I am by no means comparing App to Clemson, but they overcome these problems. Well, 80,000 or so do. It is a fanbase issue.

Based on current ticket sales, I don't know if we surpass what we had last Saturday. I doubt many "casual" fans come at all. It will be the hardcore 18-20K that usually stay all 4 quarters. I think 23,500 would be top end of what to expect unfortunately. Hope to be eating some crow on Saturday.
You will eat crow :D

There is no way we don't exceed the Troy game numbers. I don't know about 30k, but attendance will easily surpass Thanksgiving weekend. I think this game will attract far more "casual" fans than the Troy game.

To me, this highlights our biggest issue: we have a small fanbase.
Our biggest issue is a small fanbase?

I'm not looking for trouble, but 41k showed up to see Georgia Tech play at UNC.
So what you are saying is Georgia Tech travels well?
Not as well as Western, more folks were at that game. I'm just saying it's always something, weather, children, opponent, holiday. I think we have a small fanbase. I'm not complaining.
If you are saying we have a small fanbase compared to SEC and ACC teams, then I agree.

My guess is 24,000 but there are a lot of variables in play (extra game not in ticket package, cold weather, Christmas shopping, etc). One thing I do know is that most fans coming to this game will be of the hard core variety that like to make noise and support our team!

Could this be a game where we underreport the actual attendance in order to get a cut of the gate receipts, like what is commonly done in the FCS playoffs?

If we played Georgia Tech at home we would have a huge crowd like Miami. The downside for us is we play Sun Belt/G5 opponents which less people get excited for unfortunately.

I won’t be there but I’m currently waiting for the plane to deploy. Will be watching it from overseas on TV though.

Have you seen the empty seats at some of the most competitive SEC games this season? Based on percentages of alumni I think we have a very high attendance compare to other fan bases. Especially since we play in a smaller Conference with fewer known teams. There are many people who plan their season-ticket Saturdays in the fall who have trouble adding an extra Saturday for an important game Especially since there is only one week turnaround.

My Mother (67) attended her first App game this past weekend. (free Southern miss ticket) She had to stop 3 times from the place I dropped her off. I have never had a second thought of how hard it is to get up to the game. I hope to stay young forever but it is hard on Non die-hard fans.

Exactly, it’s all relative. I’m proud we don’t have any Wal Mart fans which make up the majority of UNCheat’s fan base.
