You can’t give a team that’s depleted confidence,” Capel said. “But give Elon credit. Those guys played with nothing to lose. They were playing with house money. It’s a game we have to win. We lost it.”

Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was:

Why do we bother discussing seeding? We got no chance of going anywhere in the tourney. I'd rather another team rep the so con. We have gotten no better this season. Just like last season. I want a new coach. We will be bad next year too.

I know our chances are slim to none but you'd rather see another team than App win the SoCon and go to the NCAA Tournament? Come on. I'm pretty sure a kitten dies somewhere every time Davidson makes the big dance.

I couldn't care less whether another team could represent the conference better than us, I want ASU to win. An NCAA appearance, no matter how unlikely, would be enormous for us.

Davidson can fund real football and put our basketball programs on an even playing field or get the hell out of the SoCon, as far as I'm concerned. Charleston, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Elon was down three starters, not two.

Another late game collapse....I was hoping App would mature, jell and get past these types of losses. I guess not this year. :?

If we have to stoop to get K State in, what kind of replacement would we get to replace Davidson?

Unless we sign a Curry type and a big guy who can jump, rebound, and shoot consistently. What's the chance of that? My answer is: slim and none. :|

Just my opinion but I'd be in no rush to replace an associate member that plays football outside of the SoCon. Realistically, I know that Davidson is the class of SoCon basketball and gives us the little bit of name recognition we have. However, they bring absolutely nothing else to the conference. If they had decided to bolt with Charleston, I'd have been happy to stay at 10 members for basketball and have an 18-game round robin schedule unless there was a great option out there.

I tend to agree with you, but correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Davidson beat us in women's basketball once this season or am I thinking of another sport? I do think they bring something to the table in the so called minor sports. I think they compete pretty well given that they have more or less 1,000 on campus students as well as adding a level of academic integrity that would be hard to replace.

They have beaten our women twice this season.

They swept us. Davidson basketball, men's and women's, is very good. Other than basketball, they offer very little to the conference athletically.

Baseball, wrestling, volleyball, men's tennis and men's soccer are all poor. Track and field is average, women's tennis is average and they don't sponsor softball. The only sport I know of, aside from basketball, that they are typically in the top half of the SoCon is women's soccer.

They have certainly carried the load in basketball but as an overall athletics department, Davidson is weak. It's a one trick pony. Pour all the money into basketball, play non-scholarship football in half of a high school stadium and let all the other programs suffer. It works because none of their alumni care about anything but basketball, so there is no push for funding elsewhere.

Davidson has great basketball programs. Good for them. I'd love to be on their level in hoops but not at the expense of everything else.

Their men's soccer has not always been in the bottom half of the league. In fact, they have actually played in the NCAA men's soccer final four. Though in recent times, they have not been very competitive. In fact, they finished dead last in 2012. Clearly, Davidson's major focus has been on basketball and that, of course, goes way back.

That makes the loss even more depressing.

Expense of everything else? You mean like SOME think we will do when we become FBS in football?

"Thinking" and "doing" are two different things. What's the point of your question? Are you in this "some" group?

I would say he's the most vocal of that misinformed group.

NO! But it has been voiced on here several times by several different posters. My only fear is the dropping of any sport we currently field. Too, I hope we stay in the black from day one.
