We got the best bowl matchup of any Belt team in a city that wants us there and will roll out the red carpet and it will be on ESPN, who also likes us.

With the bowl tie-ins available, I don't see how we could have gotten a better reward.
Reward- Ask the players which bowl they would choose. I'm sure New Orleans or Orlando would be their top two. We need these types of destinations if we want to keep getting better recruits. (Think as an 18 year)

I would argue that we got the best bowl matchup. I would much rather play Air Force. (Bigger household name than Toledo)

Really don't think our ability to continue to get quality recruits hinges on what city we play a bowl game. Recruits get sold by a program and a desire to be part of the program. We have a PROGRAM not a team. We win games, win conferences, go to bowls and win bowls and as long as that continues, we will continue to get recruits. Any recruit that won't choose us bc we played in the Camila Bowl instead of the New Orleans bowl probably isn't the type of kid that we want anyways. Air Force is a known team but Toledo is better at playing football this year. We have the best match up as far a competitive game that we could hope for this season.

But the players are never going to get choose regardless of the bowl tie-ins, so asking them really doesn't change anything.

I think we need to go to places that want us and that our fans can get to relatively easily and that provide the most exposure. Given the bowls available to us this year, Montgomery checks all those boxes.

I seriously doubt bowl location in any given year is a consideration for recruits. They are 18 not 8, they get the big picture.

How are we doing on bowl ticket sales this year? Seems like we sold out of our initial allotment last year quicker...

Agree with the recruit comment. Is a really good recruit prospect on the fence going to decide against signing with App because he didn't like the bowl we played in?

I believe getting players chances at the NFL will impact recruiting more than bowl locations.

Can we compete always with a P5 school? No (see Miami). Until we get consistency and win every Sunbelt game by 40, it's not going to happen. Yes we won most Sunbelt games this year pretty easily, but few were blowouts and we lost to Troy. Nothing against Troy at all, they're a great team, but if we're susceptible to losing to Troy, we're not on the level of 80% of the P5's. If you look at the bowl rankings, we're in the middle. That's not bad considering the amount of bowls there are and the fact we're in the "worst" conference in FBS (glances over at C-USA). We're getting respect slowly, but let's pull in the reigns a bit and be thankful we have a winning program year after year. The time will come when we move up to a better conference, but we're in the Sunbelt now, competing for Sunbelt bowls.
Your post reeks of delusions of grandeur while also attempting to be humble and throws out statistics that really are just numbers and have no basis in fact. The fact is that until App schedules more schools like Wake Forest and less like Tennessee, the more likely P5 wins are to come.
