I'm with you. I don't think it would go on this long if he were just using this as a negotiating tool and I don't blame him. I don't think he will get this one, but we will see him interview for more of these moving forward. He might as well cash in while the going is good. And when he leaves the staff will probably follow....Cincy App wrote:I may be in the minority but I think Satterfield is seriously interested (not casually interested) in the Cincinnati job and other comparable opportunities. I also can't blame him. I don't think many of us would turn down the chance to make 3 times their current salary. With that said, I certainly hope he stays in Boone.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Satterfield to Cincinnati?
Agree here. I think only a handful of G5 jobs would move the needle (i.e. Houston, USF, UCF) otherwise I'd guess he is only leaving for a P5 job.JTApps1 wrote:Satt has always said he would listen if someone wanted to talk, but that doesn't mean he will take the job. Can't blame him for talking with them, but I don't think Cincy is the right move for him. I do like how PJ Fleck said he views WMU as an equal to Cincy and wouldn't talk to any G5 about a job. I'd hope Satt would have similar feelings going forward, and he may now that he knows what an AAC would even bring to the table.
I still think he will hold out for a good P5 job that will pay even more than Cincy and keep him closer to home.

On Cincinnati message board "Bill Cunningham reports on WLW -contract being worked out with Scott Satterfield / Appy State coach."
Of course This goes with all the fickell stuff saying it's a done deal with him as well. I guess we will see...

Although I don't agree with his politics, few people know more about the Cincinnati sports scene than Cunningham.

The guy they "trust the most" according to CIncy fans is the guy that's saying Fickell is the guy but they are still negotiating.AppGrad78 wrote:Although I don't agree with his politics, few people know more about the Cincinnati sports scene than Cunningham.

If not, then app on cloud 9 (recruiting, opportunity next year) could go down real fast

I can't blame him either, salary wise, but I wouldn't want to trade living in Boone for having to live in Cincinnati.

Re: Satterfield to Cincinnati?
Sounds like Fickell is their guy unless they can't agree to terms.
It almost seems like they're leaking some things about Satt to put pressure on Fickell.

Re: Satterfield to Cincinnati?
For those saying Satt should just hold out for a P5 job....can you name me a coach that has been plucked from the SBC for a P5 job at a school they have not previously coached at? It's a serious question. I can only think of Freeze and Malzahn and they both coached at Ole Miss and Auburn respectively. I don't think Satts path to a P5 job is by staying in the SBC unless he plans on running off a handful of outright conference championships in a row ala Chris Peterson. Obviously I don't want Satt to leave but if he wants a P5 job down the line and is offered the UC job....he should take it.

How many previous Sun Belt coaches (including Freeze and Malzahn) had multiple double digit wins seasons? Bowl win next weekend gives Satt back to back 10+ win seasons.
First time for everything....
