We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Catamount Football - things are going very, very badly...
The Whee only has one win against GW with losses against ETSU and Mercer among others. Only game remaining that is looking winnable is VMI. Anyone know what has happened to Spier in Cullowhee? I had high hopes that he would have them challenging for a SonCon title and playoff spots by now.

Apparently the new DC he hired has pissed off the entire defensive team. It's a mess from what I've glanced at over at the old delphi forums board they have. Hate it for coach Speir but I'd think Mark wouldn't let a situation like that get out of hands? Meh, it's his problem, not ours.

Outside of a few good years off and on and yes the Bob W. years when the playoffs were much smaller their football has never been all that good for more than a few years at a time (and I say that wanting them to be good or even great in FCS now that they are not in our conference.) whereas we are generally good/great but with a few years here and there that have been off for us.
Funny how two schools with similar history and beginnings are so opposite on this one point.

As much as we enjoy disliking them, they kicked our azzes on several occasions when Waters was there, including when one of our best QB's ever was leading the Wishbone Y offense (Robbie Price).MAD Doctor wrote:I'm reminded of an old saying about chicken salad.

I remember 1975 when we had a Peach Bowl bid locked up.....til we went to the Whee and lost 20-12 to a 2-7 team. They have their memories.

WCU has played an absurd number of FBS money games. They were 7-4 (I believe) last season. They'd be crazy to dump Speir right now.

I agree, T-Dog, but they probably will unless he has a relatively large buy out clause.T-Dog wrote:WCU has played an absurd number of FBS money games. They were 7-4 (I believe) last season. They'd be crazy to dump Speir right now.

I don't. Just sayin.' As pitiful as a program as they have, they would still have been a better match for the Belt than UNC-Harrisburg was for the CUSA. You can tell I don't buy into the market share drivel that got the Greenies into the CUSA.CVAPP wrote:Who cares at this point?JCline0429 wrote: As much as we enjoy disliking them, they kicked our azzes on several occasions when Waters was there, including when one of our best QB's ever was leading the Wishbone Y offense (Robbie Price).

Re: Catamount Football - things are going very, very badly...
I have no way to base this, but I have to think he has one more year of rope, no mtter what happens for the rest of this season. The only thing they have going for them is that they're the only non-HBCU state supported FCS school in the state. The facilities are among the worst in the SoCon, and it's damn near impossible to kick their history. As was stated near the top of the thread...chicken salad...
Over the summer, I ran into a Western grad, and the first thing out of his mouth was the 2004 game, followed by 1998. I complimented Hooooooooover, and politely thanked him for the swift kick in the pants that propelled us to three straight titles and into the FBS.
The difference between bad programs and good programs is that bad programs talk about victories, while good programs talk about losses — because neither are expected.
I feel bad for them. I really do.
