In all honesty, Evan's is clearly the most physical back of the group. Considering the success that almost every runner has behind this offensive line, a guy like Evans can take those extra two or three unblocked guys for a ride in ways that Cox can't even do. I expect that we may get to see more of that this weekend considering the number of carries Moore received.AppOrange wrote:I know most of you know this, and both Marcus and Jalin deserve the kudos because they are so good, but imo the offensive line, when rolling, is just as responsible for all these big rushing numbers. They make some pretty big holes then our guys hit them like they should. Keep up the good work OL!
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Jalin Moore POW
Honestly there wasn't a knock on any of our guys we've gotten like Moore and Boggs, who also didn't have a single FBS offer outside of us, even at 6-3 225 in HS. It's a combination of playing at a smaller or more rural school, lack of FBS programs really hitting these types of schools/areas, and our staff actually doing the research and evaluations on many players and finding these diamonds. You'll notice that most of these types of players that we've found have come from areas that are either pretty close to App or from areas where our staff spends the most time, like Coach Ponce in/around his home area in FL. We don't just recruit in/around the larger areas in our footprint but spend time looking for players at the smaller schools in the more rural areas. It's time consuming and requires a real dedication to travel to schools where there may only be one or two players that have FBS level skills but it has proven to be worth the effort in quite a few cases.bigdaddyg wrote:Nope haven't forgotten. Wasn't KR a walk on? Apples and oranges to an extent because stealing a legit FBS back from FCS offers is a coup. I mean what was the knock on these guys? Moose?
Also this is a good time to add that the satellite camps are also an huge tool in finding guys like this as well. Not as much the case with Moore and Boggs since they were close to us when we found them but just in the last two classes we've found several players at camps that weren't at the top of the list until we went hands on with them at camps. Clifton Duck is a good example. Even though he was from a powerhouse school in Butler and from the Charlotte area, his only other offer was Toledo. He didn't really move up our list until he showed out at the Charlotte camp last year. And Peyton Derrick from this current class. He jumped to the top of the QB board after we were able to work him out. See them, offer them, commit them. These camps, run by G5 and FCS schools, aren't a threat to the P5's like some big coaches want people to believe. Schools like Michigan going to dozens of them is an issue but the camps that we normally run or attend jointly with FCS programs are the ones that players that might not get a chance to be noticed because of the reasons I listed above are able to show what they can do and pick up offers they might not ever receive. Hopefully the NCAA will recognize this and not just do a blanket ban on them all. But then again it is the NCAA.

If true, that's not good for us. I like Evans, but we need the depth.MountaineerKidd wrote:I've heard from multiple people around the team that Jalin will be out tomorrow due to injury

We never update the 2 deep for injury? Cox still listed as starter for this week.

I hope this rumor doesn't have legs.
Also, I have seen Cox referenced in several predictions but have not seen an update on his actual status. Anybody know if he has been working out with the team this week?

Re: Jalin Moore POW
I talked with David from the Scout site and Moore was practicing normal on Wednesday when he was there for practice. No orange or green jersey, walked right past him on his way off the field with no issues. It was not a full contact practice but as of Wednesday he was fine. Unless something happened Wednesday night or yesterday then I don't know where this is coming from. He was not out all week so if he is hurt it happened in the last 36 hours. I'll do more checking and see if I can find out any more info from those who were there yesterday.MountaineerKidd wrote:All I heard was that he was out this week with an injury to his ac jointbigdaddyg wrote:Out? I hope you're right. I heard this from two different football players so hopefully they were misinformedfiremoose wrote:I talked with David from the Scout site and Moore was practicing normal on Wednesday when he was there for practice. Re: Jalin Moore POW
So do I. All I know for sure right now is that Moore was on the field Wednesday, along with Boyd and Evans for those who mentioned them, and he walked within a foot of David, taking off his pads, as David was getting ready to interview Satt. I'm checking with some others who were there yesterday and I'll see what else I can find out.

Re: Jalin Moore POW
Follow up. Everyone I have spoken to has said nothing is wrong with Jalin and he will start Sat. We'll know in just under 18 hours but as of right now I have no reason to believe he is out.

Just noticed that JM is 11th in the country in rushing. Not bad. We need Cox but wow.
