We 'll have to agree to disagree. In my work as a Pastor, I was taught to see big overall picture, instead of individual segments, as those segments come together to make a whole. In my view of the whole, Satt and TL, were caught in a series of errors that led to where TL ran out of bounds half a second too late. Satt. knew what he was doing and had a plan. It was just not well executed......
Satt said in hindsight he should have called a TO.....probably after the snuffed screen pass, as it would have given him a chance for a short out pass before a long FG attempt with a shaky kicker. But Satt was trying to execute a plan that ends up becoming a teaching moment with a group of 19-22 year olds on how to handle adversity. I have no issues with how Satt handled the situation.

We got more national air play Thursday than we did all the years of FCS. As far asthe kick is concerned its history. Next game is ODU. Rubino, like golf forget the last shot and concentrate on the next one.

So there was no poor clock management, we just made "a series of errors." Got it.

Never leave a timeout on the board when on that situation! I'm ok Taylor was trying to make a play its all good imo we won that game just not literally!

Those decisions are always judgment calls. I do believe if he had it to do over again he calls the timeout. Coach admitted it took too long to lineup on the final play. No doubt things happened that forced us out of what we wanted to do. But we didn't give ourselves a chance at the end because we didn't manage the clock very well to close out regulation.

That doesn't take away from the great game plan that the staff created and the team executed.

I don't condone the student treatment of Rubino, as reported, but I am glad students are paying attention. The masses really didn't in the early 2000's when I was in school.

This ! Can't take anything away from how our guys were coached and ready to go! This may be the best start to a season with a loss ever !

We were half a second away from a potential game winning field goal as time expired. The play that hurt us the most from a time stand point was Hopkins not getting out of bounds. I don't think we managed the clock all that poorly, it was just one of a seemingly endless number of instances in the second half where we got unlucky and things just didn't bounce our way.

One play here, one play there, we win.PAT should be 99 percent agreed but had anyone told me we would hit them like we did , again and again all four quarters ,well I'm not sure I would have bought it. UT has unlimited athletics resources , what our kids and staff did was amazing...but it's gonna hurt for a long time.

Rubino will win more games for App than he loses.

There are a bunch of really good 0-1 teams. Are we at the point where anything less than 12-0 is not good? Dang guys relax.

Rubino had a tough night. He is a freshman and I am confident he will work it out. We could have won it with either the XP or the 42 yrd field goal. However, we also did a poor job of managing the last drive. At the very least when Lamb and team were taking their time, Satt should have intervened and called a TO. Then at minimum you either can take a shot at a field goal or took a shot into end zone at end of regulation. Doing neither was bad. As to OT, Lamb had his chances too, as one said he could have hit the dude crossing at the 7-8 yrd line OR thrown to back corner of end zone instead of throwing short.

Now, on the positive, we did a heck of a lot of good things throughout the night to put us into those positions (players stepping up, coach's game plan, etc.). Unfortunately we just didn't do the last things to pull off the win. Next step is to clean that up too. And Tennessee got some lucky bounces too. I am proud of our team.

Thread should be changed to missed opportunities. Yep gotta hit XP's. I've heard folks advocate to remove them because they are too routine- look at the NFL. Still have to execute. It's a shame we generate all these threads that tear into clock management, missed this and should have done that...it was a great game plan. I did a little thread pointing out winning the quarter. That's how I always approached baseball when I coached- win every inning. Some basketball coaches break games down into segments. We won some quarters and had them where we wanted them. Some of us would be lying if we didn't think UT might turn it on the 2nd half. Our coaches did an awesome job and our 3star and under sized boys rocked Rocky Top all night long. That odd shaped ball took the wrong bounce one time and they simply got lucky.

Agree the headings should be missed opportunities. I was surprised we didn't use the TE more. I know we need pass protection but we have solid play fron the TE position.

We had to pick our poison on offense (possibly) in that we needed a TE to help block their speedy DE in order to give TL a shot to make any throws. Bunn is a good tackle but he was going to struggle one on one.

Just got home from Tenn (Sunday 10:45pm). Rubino is a FRESHMAN, first kicks of his college career in front of 100,000. He will learn from this. He is only a freshman and the stress had to be off the charts. He will be fine, don't worry.

I hope he watched some of the other games this weekend. Miss State kicker missed a chip shot and South Alabama pulled the upset. This is a SEC kicker who is a JUNIOR, so Rubino has NOTHING to hold his head about. He isn't the only kicker who missed very important FGs this weekend.

Every place I went this weekend, the TENN fans told me that App State should have and really won the game, the scoreboard just didn't say so. I'm proud of all the kids as they played an outstanding game against a team picked to beat a lot of very good SEC RANKED teams this year. Go Apps!!
