The school is required to buy the tickets at face value which is 75-250. Fans can buy online at StubHub for less than that which like appstate89 said, is a big reason the schools are losing money.

Not sure where you got those numbers from but Ill back my numbers up with evidence. You can get tickets to the Orange Bowl all day long for under 10$. Thats less than half the price of FCS playoff tickets. I know it doesn't support your arguement. But its factual.

But those are not the tickets the schools are forced to buy, and that is a big part of the problem. Fans of these schools are buying tickets on the Internet rather than through their school's ticket office and the school is taking a bath. Va. Tech lost several million dollars on its last BC$ bowl trip. VT probably has the financial wherewithal to withstand a hit like that. I'm not sure NIU does.
Like I stated earlier I bet a handful of alumni buy up many if not all of the allotment and at less than half the price of our playoff tickets any NIU fan that wants to go can afford to do so.

I agree but your arguement was our fans would freak out if they had to pay 75+ which they dont have to pay.

I was just referencing how frustrated many of our fans were when the price of individual game tickets went up this season. It will be even more once we become FBS.

That alum hasn't stepped up yet. NIU has apparently chosen to just take the hit because they are offering free tickets to any NIU student who makes it to Miami.

I'm not trying to argue which level is better. I am saying that the current setup is causing the participating schools to take huge hits financially. In a tough economy I just wonder how much longer they can justify multi-million dollar losses on bowl trips.

And smaller schools like NIU, do not have the infrastructure or overall budget to absorb the massive hit it would take unlike the UCONN's, Wisconsins, and West Virginia's of the world.

Again a little research will show you that said Orange Bowl bound NIU sells season tickets for 120$. So that may not necessarily be the case.

If they cant absorb the hit than why accept the bid? They arent forced to go the could easily decline it. Its obviously worth it to be there.

I'm giving up this argument. I will be the guy over here laughing my ass off, when 12,000 people show up to watch us get spanked 55-7 by Arkansas State or UL-Lafayette and lose to Charlotte. App isn't going to a BCS bowl. Quit living off of one fluke win against a high Michigan team that could give a damn. App has gotten too big for its pants, thinks it can compete with the big boys and is going to lose its shirt when it blows up in their face.

Im not basing this off of the Michgan win. I wanted us to make a move in the late 90's early 2000's when we would regularly beat of give Wake Forest good games. This combined with the watering down of FCS with small private schools and large state schools moving up the fcs and App are no longer a good fit.

Can't go there with you. The bowl payout setup is clearly rigged against the participants. That's all I was talking about.

I don't agree with any part of the post above.

The bowl payouts are clearly rigged but its not a non AQ issue. Its an issue for BCS schools as well.

Yes, it is. That is why I pointed out that VT lost over $2 million on their 2009 Orange Bowl trip. The deck is stacked against every bowl participant financially.

Wow. Laughable. Way to sell your school short. So, what exactly do you believe your "Appers" rule?

Probably a good thing you don't have the negative post button active on this forum. It would be broken after Appersoughttoknowtheirdamnroleandstaythere's post.

He's just a troll. Probably not even an App fan. Either that or got way too butthurt over the argument.

I really hope it's a case of him letting his heart rule his head. I think there is a lot of that right now.

Btw- without looking it up can anyone on here name a player from NIU?
Michael Turner of the Atlanta Falcons. I attend a lot of Falcons games so that was an easy one for me. I admit I can't name any others off the top of my head.
