Athletics announced White Out for Old Dominion

I'm guessing this means the mystery helmet will also be white. I will say the white helmet with the black A from the concept table last year looked pretty sweet to me, but I could only consider it with black jerseys. Even then I'm not sure. Looked great but might still be too off-brand.

KBS has been host to many memorable White-outs, these games success was measured in inches not fans wearing white. These are the only White-out traditions needed at App, "White-out" games here are something earned by tough fans not something marketed to them.

My closet is full of years of Black and Gold App apparel. Not once have I ever bought any white apparel. Don't plan to now. This idea is going to work less than the gold and black stripe idea they tried a couple years ago.

Yea with all due respect to the "new" team at the athletic office... this is what happens when you have no App alum or virtually no one as part of the decision process. We have worn white as the away color... Ok who thinks its ok to wear anything but black (maybe gold or gray) at home. The team laid another egg. It's really not this hard to get it right... C'mon boys and girls...

If this is at-least partially because we have new white/ice uniforms on the way and/or white helmets, then wear them the week before at Tennessee on the SEC Network in front of a bigger audience. That's fine. No white at home.

I certainly will not be wearing pink on 10/22. Yes, I know October is all about breast cancer awareness. If I thought paying some vendor for a pink shirt with my beloved Block A on it would make a real difference, I might do it ... that's a distant "might". When it comes to supporting those with breast cancer or research on the matter, I'll make donations directly to organizations doing that research ... and not the traditional, huge, political behemoth "research" institutes .., and serve those I know fighting the battle directly.

Pink Day isn't awful since it's just for "accessories". Also, it's Homecoming so that's different crowd. I do have a problem with breast cancer awareness marketing in general because I feel like resources wasted on pink marketing (like Komen does) could be given to charities who fund research that will save lives. Breast cancer is a big deal and it needs to be fought, but there are other types of cancer that needs funding And other types of cancer that doesn't have catchy slogans like "save the tatas".

Komen spends very little on shirts, at least the Charlotte affiliate does. How did this turn into an attack on an organization that uses 75% of every dollar donated to help local needs or research?

Back on topic, every Saturday was black Saturday growing up.
