We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Our old friend REALIGNMENT
OU President David Boren makes it known (after all Big 12 schools agreed to let the conference commissioner be the outward voice of the league) that the league should strive to get back to 12 members.

We talked about this on our show today on ESPN Upstate. Popular candidates are Cincinnati (to get WVU a close rival), BYU and Houston with a few people suggesting Arkansas or Iowa could be interesting candidates. Then of course we know of the potential trickle down effect.
Since there's not much else to talk about...let's discuss.

Re: Our old friend REALIGNMENT
If a BYU or Boise State get an invite, the impact on the college landscape wouldn't be that big. I don't see BYU leaving as they seem to be quite comfortable in their independent status.
My money's on them taking two AAC teams, Houston and either Memphis or Cincy. If that happens and there are two vacancies up the ladder, I'd hope we'd be given a second look, maybe with GS.
I wonder if the LA governor goes through with his threats and makes draconian budget cuts to the education system if that would cause a lot of volatility with the SBC with ULM and ULL being affected.

I didn't say anything about App moving Boone Goon. As a matter of fact I almost included a line about "we don't need to cover the 'app should get into cusa'" rigamaroll, but I didn't want to limit the conversation...if others want to go there it's fine.

Re: Our old friend REALIGNMENT
Once the Big 12 adds their 2-4 teams in the next year or so, the G5 will realign again. This will be done to make the conferences more regional and cut down on travel costs. It is something many on here correctly predicted during the move up.

Re: Our old friend REALIGNMENT
Since it hasn't happened, I don't think you can say you "correctly predicted" anything. What I think we can agree on is that we're in for another wave of musical chairs if the Big 12 expands. What some have predicted in the wake of Big 12 expansion is that G5 conferences will come to their ever-lovin' senses and form more regional, less-travel-heavy divisions. Others like myself believe there are too many schools that put their personal interests above the good of the whole, making that Nirvana you speak of unlikely. Just because it makes sense to you and me that the G5 conferences should be more regionally oriented, that doesn't mean the Judy Roses of the world would be so inclined.Goapps15 wrote:Once the Big 12 adds their 2-4 teams in the next year or so, the G5 will realign again. Bottom line: We had better be prepared for a long stay in a Sun Belt spread over multiple time zones.
