Maybe missing in that Ark St game kept him here?

While holding a “Today I give my all for Appalachian State sign” 😂

Wish the kid the best, nothing personal towards him. Just a funny choice by the designers.

Anyways, this is probably the first year in my life I’ve paid attention to the NFL more than CFB. Sad times. I can’t mentally handle trying to keep with all these transfers and roster changes every year.

Me too. Pains me what has happened to the college game. Was my love. Back to the NFL, like I was as a small child before college football stole my heart.

I have to remember, this is not the players fault, its those who let it get to this broke system.

I had far more fun watching high school this year, as well as the Panthers.

College football is no longer college football, it’s become comical.

A sad state of affairs for sure.

I was hoping to retire to Boone in the coming years and watch App State sports. I wouldn’t even consider it now.

I have had dreams of retiring to Boone to watch app football and play Boone golf….both likely won’t be there (or the same) when I retire.

I am retiring to Boone and cannot wait to see App. St. sports. It's the name on the front of the jersey for me.. not the name on the back ..

Bought a place in Fleetwood 5 yrs ago semi-retired. Don't like the the way things are but will continue to support the Mountaineers.

I have retired to Boone already. Dreams of App games of all sorts and just being close to the school and what’s going on, became a dream come true in 2020. Quite frankly it’s been down hill since. The dream was so strong for so long I’m going to hang in as long as I can. I’m here y’all come on home!!!

It’s nice that you can see it that way.

My problem is that the most of the kids wearing the jersey couldn’t care less about App State or any other of the multiple schools they play for now.

It use to feel like we were watching fellow Mountaineers, now they’re just rent-a-Neers.

I personally believe this is an exaggeration for a few reasons. This isn’t meant as an attack either, fyi.

1. Most people that leave or come to App do it for opportunity. Look at the vast majority of players that are leaving this cycle. They came to App because they cared about the place. There was a coaching change and they got caught in the shuffle of something that largely wasn’t their fault.

2. Look at the location of our school. Do you seriously think people come here from all over the country because they don’t care about the place? There isn’t a night life here. There isn’t anything but football.

3. Why do you watch the games? Do you watch because the players have been there for four years or because you expect the team to win? I generally believe that winning and the casual fan being entertained is cared about more than what school the players came from.

I care more about watching App State than watching any singular player.

This year more that disproves your position. We absolutely need players who come here and stay here. And that’s for a couple different reasons. Firstly, there are very real questions about the ability of this staff to whip a whole new roster into shape every season. They sure didn’t do it this year. Secondly, if the roster is constantly turning over, there’s no way to develop any sort of continuity or sustained success. Look at this season. No one knew who any of the players were and overall they played like a team that had no connection to each other either.

I don’t know how long you’ve been an App fan, but to say you don’t care about the players, only the name is kinda silly. There’s a reason all the guys on here wax nostalgic about the studs we’ve had over the years and that’s because they stuck around, played together and won…a lot together. People remember those guys as true Mountaineers who really did give their all for App. Look at how we’ve all talked about the 2005 national champion team. I knew every player on that roster. Who are you gonna remember from this season in 5 years? And moving forward I predict a whole lot of lost seasons and players no one remembers. And no one is going to remember them because they won’t be here very long and with that comes a lot of forgotten below average seasons for the name on the front of the jersey and people Will remember that. If you want to watch App like they are a single A baseball team that’s cool, but even in professional sports there are players who stick around fans can rally behind. What’s going on now in college football sucks and it really sucks for schools like App. So if we wanna watch App win consistently, we sure better hope some of the players stick around for a while and learn how to win together.
