Things to do in/around Boise

Unread post by T-Dog » Sun Sep 14, 2025 6:41 pm

I'm making the Boise game part of my big trip this year. Didn't do any big trips over the summer so I can spend a week out there.

I'll have five uninterrupted days between two flight days. And from what I've heard there will be others out there as well.

For those who've been out there or have done way more research than me, drop your suggestions.

Keep in mind that I am not what an academic would call "in shape" or "fit," so heavy mountain climbing is out of the question.

We will be in Utah starting this Thursday. This is our big vacation this year so to speak
We are doing Zion, Bryce Canyon and Arches.
We roll into Boise the following Thursday night.
By that Friday in Boise, I may want to be in a vegetative state to get ready for Saturday. However, we signed up for some of the App. St. related events on Friday.....so, we shall see if we make them or not.
For many parks, you can drive if you have rental car and do car tours versus hiking. However, realize you may not want to drive to the large national parks in Utah given the drive. I am sure there are state or national parks driving distance rom Boise.
I did not research Boise as our time there is limited.

We are flying out to Seattle on Tuesday. Wife is going to see a Linkin Park concert and I’m going to the Mariner’s game. Heading to Boise late Thursday. Can’t help you with the activities around Boise as all my plans revolve around hitting various restaurants.

It will depend on when we roll into Boise. If my extremely better half wants to spend part of the day at Canyonlands and then drive to Boise, probably going to tap out on Friday. If she wants to get up and go, it could be a game time decision...see how I do in pregame warming up😂😂😂.

Ditto hiking the narrows if you can. When I went last year the water level was too high, ended up going to another state park trail that was similar and it was still amazing. Beautiful part of the country for sure.

St Lawrence Gridiron has a Saturday and Sunday brunch. We have reservations for 10:00 am gameday to try the pulled pork Monte Cristo.

Thanks for feedback. Although my wife is not aware yet, we are staying in a Tee Pee outside Canyonlands...to clarify, it is definitely glamping... based upon the pics online of the tee pees...😂😂
