This was a big point of concern with one of the buildings my company runs just a year ago. We were switching from charging for parking as you enter to including it in the ticket price. Some thought we should break everything out while others thought we should just show a total price. We ended not breaking it out, and nobody has ever complained about it. Most are just happy they don't have to pay at the parking lot gate anymore. It also made parking flow 100 time better.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 2:37 pmIf they charged $20 with no fees versus $15 with a fee, I don't think people would complain. I had football in mind as well but I know we sellout so we can bump up prices. I saw most tickets are just 15 bucks. I have not been to a game this year. When it comes to basketball how much are say 3 tickets including fees, parking, and a drink and food for a family of 3 or 4?BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 3:33 pmTickets for basketball are cheap...no matter the upchargeAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 2:07 pmNot at all but charging a fee to buy online when it is cold as a convenience charge is crazy. If you've never attended MBB/WBB at Holmes and you find yourself in Boone during the season, I'd strongly encourage you to go.
Holmes has a great game atmosphere and there isn't a bad seat in the house. It's fun/inexpensive way to spend the afternoon with your family. Not to mention supporting these kids who are working their tails off to win games for App.

Some of you are missing the point. It isn't that the ticket is $20 instead of $15 or how the price is broken out. The problem is that it is cheaper to buy in person than online. So, people are incentived to buy in person, only to be greeted by a huge line out in the cold. This isn't 2005... Going digital is no longer considered a luxury convenience. Shouldn't the in-person sales be the same or even more since they have to pay people to work the ticket booth? By the time half the people get inside to watch tip off, they're already pissed off and saying they won't come back. Terrible way to build attendance off this successful year.

Huge line? We can't get 3,500 to a game. That includes 1,500 students (if that) and maybe 1,000 season ticket holders. I wish lines were an issue. And this year's team deserves THAT issue.appvette wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 4:21 pmSome of you are missing the point. It isn't that the ticket is $20 instead of $15 or how the price is broken out. The line buying in person is always 10+ deep and standing in single digit temps on Saturday is not ideal.
Charge $16-$20 in person or online (no difference between them) and make the process seamless.
The athletic department sometimes makes things more difficult than they need to be.

I don't know this for sure, but I imagine there is some vendor infrastructure which causes the on line tickets to charge a fee. If you don’t want to stand in line, buy the tickets on line. If you don't want to pay the fee, get there a bit early. All I am trying to say is this is one of the best basketball teams we have ever had.

There have been and are currently some that provide excellent customer service, but as a whole you are correct.

To keep the mojo going I have to ask you edit the title to clarify what era we are living in to avoid confusion. This query will continue until the athletic fixture does not result in victory for our beloved Mountaineers. So we looking at BC, BCE, CE, or AD. AM also works You can choose the naming convention for the thread edit, but it is clearly needed to push us to victory.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: App MBB vs Coastal, Saturday, Jan. 20, 4:30 p.m. ET, year two thousand and twenty four, Cure Bowl celebration game,
The high school where I teach went full digital/mobile ticketing last year. The vendor/app that we use does charge a $1 transaction fee. To de-incentivize using cash to save money, we just increased the cash price by $1 so it’s the same as mobile/digital. There were some complaints from older folks at first, but everyone has gotten on board, attendance has gone up, and getting into the game takes half the time it used to. Plus, you don’t need as many already overworked teachers running the gate. If my 1A high school can figure it out, App State should be able to.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 5:20 pmI don't know this for sure, but I imagine there is some vendor infrastructure which causes the on line tickets to charge a fee. Soooo, we’re playing Coastal today, yeah?
Coastal is 5-12
ESPN BPI gives us a 95% chance to win this game.
The spread is App -15.5.
The Chaunts have lost 3 of their last 5 including the midweek game vs Georgia Southern who stinks (both metaphorically and as a basketball team this year).
Should be a high flying game.

The transfers have come in and complemented Donovan Gregory and CJ Huntley so well. Having a big man who can score and pass the ball well is enormous too. A couple years ago it was all Justin Forest now we’ve got playmakers all over the court.
