I'm glad y'all are all so optimistic. I'm just not ready to trust this team yet. They CAN win, but this may be the best team they've played all year. While I'd love a win, especially a big win, I just don't know if it will happen. If they DO win, I'll be ready to say we are all the way back, baby!

I don't think we have to win to suggest that the team has turned things around. We obviously can't get blown out, which hasn't happened all year, but given the opponent if we keep it competitive it doesn't mean the last nine quarter were an aberration. I am looking forward to the last two games (plus a bowl game) to see what kind of momentum we can carry into next season. Given the youth of this team and the returning talent, next year could be a really good one.

I totally agree. There's no doubt that the team has improved. I was just countering some on here who seem to think App should make the CFP now that they beat 3 pretty bad teams in a row. I'm happy App's winning, I hope they keep winning, I'm just not ready to say "we're back!"

I just started recovering from the Braves getting unceremoniously bounced from the postseason for the second straight year by the friggin' Phillies. I'm not ready to put my hope in anything yet.

Hopefully Sloan has a scheme to keep #1 Reggie Brown on a leash. He's having a great season at WR. As for the front 7, get after McCloud! With both starting T out for the Dukes, apply pressure! Sell out on the read option and hit McCloud early and often. Make the QB want to give the ball up and get happy feet in the pocket. The 3 games prior to UCONN, McCloud threw 4 INT's. Defense needs to make some momentum plays and win the turnover battle.

Just curious to know how many JMU starters on both sides of the ball are from the portal. Thats makes a big difference in experience .

I counted 28ish.
They pull a lot from our recruiting area too

You can only start 22, correct?

24?

That is why JMU is undefeated. They have 12 starters on the field for offense and defense. We cannot compete with that!!

12 for a Ken Dorsey offense.

Come on guys, I counted 21 on the entire team, with an overwhelming majority not from an FBS school and underclassmen. I think we start three and maybe five total see the field during a game. We have an incredible group of receivers and an awesome defensive line and LB's. Our strength is in our coaching up players. One of the most incredible stories is Carpenter on the DL. Came to JMU as a walk-on, he's undersized and has one more year of eligibility. I question our QB on his lack of decision to keep the ball on a RPO. He's clearly fragile, and a little small for a DI QB, but he's 24 and that is surely a plus. This will be a good game as all the APP State/JMU games have been.

As for offense I think we see a lot of Castle in the backfield. The coaches trust him in pass protection and he probably has the best hands of any of our backs. He will be used as an outright pass protector and to chip and become the safety valve over the middle and in the flats.
