That freshman will probably play many years in NFL. I see why others hitting portal. Not sure if the ones in portal are any good, but we could use a good TE

Re: Possible transfer situations
Bowers is a freak, Washington to NFL. Goede 4* at 6'6 240, Seither 3* 6'5 230 both just went into the portal. All really good and played in about 25-30 games over their careers. Crazy that they have 4 leaving and still will be "okay". Trying to see if we offered Goede out of Kennesaw or Seither. I'm sure they are looking for more usage.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 4:50 pmThat freshman will probably play many years in NFL. I see why others hitting portal. Re: Possible transfer situations
I just saw that Zak Rozsman has entered the portal. You may recall that the 3-star Pro Style QB out of Marietta, GA originally committed to the Mountaineers back in 2021 but changed to Ga. Southern just before Clay Helton was announced as the new Head Coach. The Eagles have brought in transfer QBs the last couple of seasons. Rozsman looked like a really good prospect out of high school. Hopefully he finds a good landing spot.

Re: Possible transfer situations
We have two TEs that are primed to step up and two more ready for more playing time. We don’t need to go into the portal because we “think” someone is better than what we have.

Re: Possible transfer situations
Just trying to see where we can improve the roster. If you don’t think a 4* UGA tight end would do so, can’t help ya. Why did we go get wide receivers then? Do we not trust who we have? We only lost 1.
Will we make any more portal moves? Or is the roster mostly locked in? DC scholarship opens up a spot.

Re: Possible transfer situations
You only have 85 scholarships to go around and you have 4 TEs on scholarship plus Gibbs and you have a 5th one coming in this fall.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 5:41 pmJust trying to see where we can improve the roster. Why are we using spots on WRs then?

Re: Possible transfer situations
We only have 6 on scholarship and one of those is doubtful to see the field, (Pinckney). Robinson, Horn, Davis and Stroman with experience and Sutton who hasn’t played much. Hetzel sees time but he is a walk on. So we have very little after a two deep.

Re: Possible transfer situations
I'm sorry but I've got to say that of all the stuff to question and complain about the makeup of the roster (positions) and needs really need to be trusted to the staff. Being an armchair coach on game day is one thing but we have to believe these highly paid experienced coaches know who we have and need. This portal thing is beyond out of control. If we went after every single guy from a P5 who is available simply because of a high school ranking and where they are currently enrolled we would have no stability at all.

Re: Possible transfer situations
With the exception of lack of Oline talent brought in this class they appear to be addressing need and class balance.

Agree with you 100%. They are addressing the program all around. Class balance is so important for many reasons.

Re: Possible transfer situations
Yup, class balance is huge. If you don't have class balance, you get what we just saw this past season -- players needing to play that are not ready to play yet.AppState89 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 10:25 amAgree with you 100%. There is concern about the lack of o-line depth though. Hopefully that can be addressed. I heard from Cummings directly he isn't worried about the talent we have on the roster, which is good. The worry is depth right now.

Re: Possible transfer situations
I've been working under the assumption that we will still pick up some O-Line in the portal....hopefully ready for impact. I hope that is a good assumption.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 10:29 amYup, class balance is huge. This is where I'm hoping our S&C hire makes a difference.

Re: Possible transfer situations
The obvious answer to this question is nobody knows but I'll ask- what is the intel on the guys transferring in? Looks like the receiver from Miss State(?) had some decent stats. Did the defensive and offensive linemen play and significant snaps?

Re: Possible transfer situations
Thought I saw the MSU (up north) transfer was in the rotation played over 300 snap this year. The WR from St Francis was a Frosh AA FCS over 80 catches

ETSU OL in portal, 6’7 350 3 year starter, talk about size! Would be funny to snag him since they took luke smith. nice little over the mountain rivalry
