Thank goodness for boykin or we wouldn’t have scored 40. He’s our best scorer. Not sure where we go after him and gregory. Pitiful effort but got the 1 conference loss out of the way. 17-1 confirmed rest of way. Haha.
Almost february men, kermit’s got the beav looking good and the players hungry for wins.

Gregory was 1-7 with a few TOs. Mantis was 2 -9. Huntley was 1-6. This combined with not being very good defensively (Herd shot over 50%) is the ballgame. We are not fluid on offense in order to get open shots. We may have good athletes...but Marsha has a good team. Their offensive movement was impressive and passing off the ball screens will have them in upper tier in the league. If we had ball movement like Marsha, we would be upper tier. Although difficult to say, I was impressed by Marsha. Never watched one Marsha game in my life until last evening.

And the metro areas of Charleston are less than a hour away - surely many alums live in very reason driving distanceMcLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 7:54 pmHuntington population is 46,842 and sits in two counties of combined pop of around 134,000 and the metro area is 361,000. On top of that their river port is the second busiest inland port in the country. Maybe they are shipping 'em in to watch the game.
Boone is 19,000, Watauga is 54,000 and from what I can tell the county is the same as the Boone, NC Micropolitan Statistical Area. Is W. Jefferson, N. Wilkesboro or Lenoir close enough to add attendance much? Some, maybe, but not much in my view? The ASU-Hickory campus might help us bring in more of the Hickory area, but that is still a 45 min drive and that is years into the future. Are those students going to be paying athletic fees?

Is it an excuse if you're consistently in the bottom third of DI basketball teams?

Not the most incredible statement ever but it's really amazing how much better one team can actually be versus another. We initially have looked much improved with what appears to be a good roster yet we have looked completely inept on offense. Last night it was a challenge to simply get the ball across half court and once again free throws and gimme shots were difficult. You can't win at a higher level without size and shooting but you can hustle, box out and play defense to help overcome lack of size and shooting. How many games have we played in which the other team has simply looked better on offense?

Which is funny considering this Marshall team lost to Queens College of Charlotte.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 11:17 amNot the most incredible statement ever but it's really amazing how much better one team can actually be versus another. Not to deflect from your point, but it is Queens University of Charlotte. Has been since 2002.ah59396 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 12:38 pmWhich is funny considering this Marshall team lost to Queens College of Charlotte.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 11:17 amNot the most incredible statement ever but it's really amazing how much better one team can actually be versus another. Marshall is a big deal in West Virginia.
Only two big D1 schools in the state.
They have a large and engaged fan base.
Very similar type school to ECU here in NC.
Pull a lot of fans from eastern KY and Ohio.
Number of D1 programs in NC is ridiculous.
The Herd has a lot of things in their favor.

Looking at the schedule and at how we are playing, can we win another game?

Marshall only has about 12k students. With the support in their gym last night, one could think they were a larger school. Great support not only from their alumni, but the surrounding community and state.
