The article paints a nice picture of our program:

"But it is more complicated than that. It can be situational. Power Five schools go certain places and don’t go other places, like corporations that only recruit at elite universities. They also like finished products, rather than projects."

When we evaluate this year, we need to keep that last sentence in mind.

fantastic read of a Thanksgiving morning, and a reminder how thankful we should be for our great university.

Wow, nice article and thank you for sharing.

The last part of the article about cost-cutting and Sarah Holder's response about not getting calls from other athletic departments is really interesting.

I wonder if might change, given the declines in our economy?

Thanks for sharing......nice article that does an excellent job explaining the parallels of college football at the top. Most of us on this board and most diehard App fans already know this detail but merely appreciate the mention that uses us in the article.

The only critique I can give to this is the fact they dissed our current situation with facilities for our program. We are not actually that far away currently with football player facilities....we actually have many of the amenities mentioned in the Texas A&M depiction. Sure we may not have to as grand of a scale but I'm sure we currently have more to offer than a multitude of P5 programs. We most likely will be surpassed due to the big money super conference shift but in the meantime we haven't been that shabby especially with the NEZ facility.
KICK ASS!!!

Yeah, I noticed that, too. We have many of the facilities the article said we didn’t have. Some are overkill. Sure, we don’t have Clemson’s miniature golf course, but who gets to hole number 6 before regretting they are playing miniature golf?

Players that come to App basically just want to play football. That is awesome!

I guess some of those power five conferences recruit a lot of players that see college as an inconvenience they have to go through until they make it to the NFL.

Indeed. And even some of the members of this MMB evaluate our football program as how many we have drafted and make it to a roster and how much signing bonus or salary they get..
It seems to be a recurring mantra of this football season that our signature win was the A&M game. Don't hear much about our scoring fest with the Heels at home in KBS.

Our frugality is based on necessity. We can’t afford to waste a dime. We don’t have the luxury of having a large donor base or corporate big city sponsors. One day a white or 2 will say “my donation will do more good at App”

Because we do not waste a dime, we can win more than those that can.
