Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
The KBS expansion has approved guaranteed funds in place. From my understanding, it's basically fully funded.
Because of that, it allows us to throw more money at the 105 facilities.

That is not true. They think they can pay for it over time. They do not have the cash (or even current) pledges to pay for the East expansion.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 5:33 pmThe KBS expansion has approved guaranteed funds in place. From my understanding, it's basically fully funded.

Not what I have heard directly from Mr Gillin, but we will see. I may have misunderstood, but that is the reason for the quick turn around time.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 5:51 pmThat is not true. They think they can pay for it over time. Agree. This has been green lit rather quickly. If it was in need of funding, then it wouldn’t be moving so quickly.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 5:53 pmNot what I have heard directly from Mr Gillin, but we will see. It lacks the scoreboard too.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 11:01 amIt's interesting to me that the background of campus doesn't show the new dorms so this plan has been in design for some time it would appear.....

The drawings are "conceptual". Some features will be altered, perhaps substantially.

Looking at the conceptual I have to ask why they are tearing down all the new dorms in old Stadium Lot and rebuilding Bowie and Eggers?
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

If you look even half closely, you’ll notice the NEZ facility is a drawing/mockup/whatever. I’m guessing this has been in the works for a good long while.
The mocks for the new practice facility look really good, too.
Give 'em hell!

What’s with all the negativity regarding this project. One would think everybody would be ecstatic that we are in a place to make this addition happen.
Our program is picking up momentum quickly. We should be happy.

It could be something people in this forum have asked for for years, they announce it's happening, and it would somehow be done wrong...

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
It better happen. The east side is very high schoolish. I’m more likely to go with an east side like that when we’re bad over what we currently have. I’d gladly fork out thousands of dollars a year for those types of premium seatingBeauFoster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 3:33 pmI’m sure there’s a better than 0% chance that it comes to fruition, and I don’t adore the idea of financing any of it. I'm not sure we have that many deep pockets. One paid for the North Endzone. I believe that there's a market for more suites. But the idea that we have folks that will just stroke a check seems unrealistic.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 3:19 pmSounds like some deep pockets are getting involved as well. I’m betting that with these seats and other donors that the majority is paid for without financing by 2028.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 3:05 pmLet me say that I agree with you. But, your post indicates the need to finance the East side expansion. We need more premium seats. But financing seems complicated at this point. For a variety of reasons, I'm not sure now is the time to "bet the come".BeauFoster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 2:52 pm
This project will be nearly half funded by the required capital investment and tickets to get seats. 600-650 club seats, 20 suites seating 20-25, and ~300 loge box seats. Club and loge alone will generate roughly $10mil capital investment over 5 years. Boxes will generate that or more. Ticket sales will generate $15-20mil over 5 years. That’s probably the cost of the building. The other half of the money is going to finish 105, west renovations, and to the new indoor facility (generally)
Funding these projects are not going to be easy with interest rates where they are. Season tickets were inflated by the UNC game. Our fan base is already complaining about the per seat donation going forward.

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
I look at a lot of schools message boards. There’s not a fan base in the country who reacts more negatively about new projects than App State fans. Both here and the 247 site alike. It’s mind boggling.
Perhaps the most annoying part, no facts or figures are ever thrown out. Just general doubting the admins ability to get shit done. If you’re gonna handwring about money that isn’t yours, at least provide some factual information with it.

You are aware that debt financed projects are the norm in college athletics, no?appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 5:51 pmThat is not true. They think they can pay for it over time. Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
My favorite example of this came a few years ago when the new West Side dorms were announced. The armchair chancellors on this board complained about the cost. They said we should've added 3 floors to each of the 60 year old dorms we had.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 9:54 amI look at a lot of schools message boards. I used to worry about cost but not anymore. I was wrong to harp on it. It looks like we have plenty of cash flowing in so time to stop worrying about it.

I wouldn't say plenty, but I wouldn't worry about it while DG is still here. He's pretty conservative with the spending. He has a very detailed plan and how to get there.
