(great grandfather fought with the Whites during the Russian Civil War

What sort of position was your great grandfather in to fight on that side of the Russian Civil War?

More appropriately called Russian Revolution.

I saw a piece the other night showing a mobile crematorium being used by the Russians. Also caught something on CNN last night showing a street post battle. It gets really tough to watch when the TV guy is doing his story and walks by dead soldiers in the street. Unbelievable

Day 6 .The attack seems to be more indiscriminate. On the other side I received a video from a Polish national...a lot of dead Russians.
Problem is the Russian leadership doesn’t give a damn how many Russian or Ukrainians have to die.
That has been true for centuries with this country. The tsars were horrendous. Stain is well documented.

I know Russians and I know Ukranians , some very well , and they see each other as kin. They are in a state of shock ,dismay and abject sadness. They also tell me that Putin , a bully , was afraid of the US .Was . Now he sees weakness , and opportunity. We are in very dangerous times.BTW I have a friend , American , in Kyiv right now and am still getting real time updates .Tonight and tomorrow are critical.Make no mistake the Ukranians are fighting like hell.
When the hell did Putin ever say he was afraid of the US?
Reading comprehension? Stonewall said the Russians and Ukrainians he knew thought Putin was scarred of the US, not that Putin himself said he was afraid of the US. Putin would never say that out loud, but events on the ground over the last decade support the speculation.
I asked a simple question. Could have saved your time by just answering it (Like you eventually did) rather than your "reading comprehension" attack.
Yeah, you're probably right, it probably was a tad over the line. Sorry. I just found the use of "when the hell" as over-the-top since that clearly isn't what Stonewall had said.
My anger with the use of the word hell was probably due to my anger at the situation as a whole. I hate this for the Ukrainians and wish there was more that we could do.

You're reading it after it was cleaned up.
And I’m supposed to know that how? I appreciate the clarification.

Some Russians are surrendering:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/russian-troo ... 11053.html

WASHINGTON — Plagued by poor morale as well as fuel and food shortages, some Russian troops in Ukraine have surrendered en masse or sabotaged their own vehicles to avoid fighting, a senior Pentagon official said Tuesday.

Some entire Russian units have laid down their arms without a fight after confronting a surprisingly stiff Ukrainian defense, the official said. A significant number of the Russian troops are young conscripts who are poorly trained and ill-prepared for the all-out assault. And in some cases, Russian troops have deliberately punched holes in their vehicles’ gas tanks, presumably to avoid combat, the official said.

The Pentagon official declined to say how the military made these assessments — presumably a mosaic of intelligence including statements from captured Russian soldiers and communications intercepts — or how widespread these setbacks may be across the sprawling battlefield. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss operational developments.

Ukranians Fleeing: From USA Today
The humanitarian situation is worsening in the region. A U.N. refugee agency said more than 847,000 people have fled Ukraine for neighboring countries since the invasion began, a number that could surpass 1 million within days.

Freedom is lost gradually from uninterested, uninformed and uninvolved people.

Thank goodness the Iranians are none of those.

There are credible reports today that say Russian Troops are surrendering to civilians who, then, are feeding them.

What are you willing to risk? I have a lot of issues with how this was handled going back months-was our Intel so bad we didn't see it coming or did we just fail to act in time? I doubt we will ever know the answers .

If we gotta pay more at the pump to help Ukraine with oil sanctions so be it…but allow me this USA rant.

We need a comprehensive energy strategy that transcends politics and partisan administrations. A GRADUAL withdrawal from fossil fuels to a level that can be better tolerated by the environment.
At the same time build up solar, wind and NUCLEAR to offset that withdrawal. There is a long end game if designed correctly. Maybe an “independent” Non governmental agency like the Federal Reserve?

Back to topic ….I am donating to Ukraine relief fund.

People are making a very complex subject overly simple to justify their position.

Now we’re diverging from the subject at hand for political gain. STOP.

Is Russian’s invasion of Ukraine acceptable to anyone?
