Thompson's skill is hard to put in words. If you were lucky enough to see him play, you know what I mean. He's featured on appstatesports.com and the
NCAA Champion magazine...

I was in school at the time (78-82). We were a national soccer power and the Nigerians were awesome, but Thompson was incredible. Neat memories.

True Story:
Soccer was practicing after football one day late fall and cold.
Thompson was deftly bouncing the ball as if using his hands. The topic of Thompson kicking for the football team came up.
Someone asked Thompson to kick a field goal...
Thompson with a sly smile "teed" one (football) up at midfield from the "west" sideline...Took a couple of steps and drilled a field goal. The ball never got more than 15-12 feet off the ground. Next he laid a soccer ball on the ground at mid-field and proceeded to kick the soccer ball through the uprights with a long draw.
He was amazing!

I also went to school at App when he was there. Even made the trip to Clemson to see us beat the Tigers which I hope we can duplicate in football this fall. Great memories!!
