Season started 29 August against Mercer with a win. 3 sets to zero.

3-0 on the season. 2 impressive 5-set wins against College of Charleston and EKU. Backs were against the wall, but they found a way. Impressed with some of the transfers that were brought in. Very good depth on the outside. Hutchens (soph) has been very impressive with her 2 transfer counterparts and both middles are very good. I only watched the CofC match since it was the only one live-streamed.

Heidemann also surpassed 1,000 career assists this past weekend. Huge milestone for her!

A win at home tonight against Elon. Struggled to win, but won.

App was up 16-10 in set 2. UVA calls a TO and goes up 19-21. Final for set 2 is 25-23. App up 2 sets to zero for UVA.
UVA takes set 3 25-23.
UVA has RPI of 66 and App is 72 or so.
UVA took set 4 and was winning in set 5 11-14 and App rattled off 5 straight points to win the match in 5 sets.

Yes it seemed pretty good.

The team has been good and fun to watch. The game against Elon was ugly, partly due to some personnel on the court that wasn’t clicking. The OH transfer from WCU and Hutchens are a good duo on the OH. The middles have been very good. Passing has also been consistently good too. There are some pieces that left to go to SC with coaches, but had they stayed then I think this team would have been at the very top of the SBC. Another tough weekend ahead and then a trip to UNC who will likely be ranked in the Top 25 by then.

This team has been clutch in 5 set affairs, it seems half of their wins to date have gone that route.
In the Belt, StAte knocked off ranked Missouri.

I am guessing this is the best start for a head coach at App State in any sport ever?

Didn't the VB team also lose some good young talent to the portal when the previous coach left for another opportunity?
I do not follow VB avidly. However, I seem to remember we lost some to portal.
If so, makes this even more impressive.

FOY left to go to South Carolina. One of the middles left to go to South Carolina. Lost a couple of the incoming recruits. Luckily some of the core players stayed, picked up a couple solid transfer pieces and they have some depth it looks like.
