ASU tennis courts

Unread post by appdaze » Fri May 31, 2024 5:31 pm

They look well built but I hope they can make them more AppState somehow. Some Grey and white block A's just seem awkward somehow.

I completely agree! These should reflect App State not some generic “Recreation Department looking thing”!!!

Those block A’s scream, “we’re so broke, we barely had enough money to finish this project and had to panhandle in front of Local Lion just to raise money for the court lettering.”

Had Gillin asked, I bet some of us here would’ve pitched in enough nickels/dimes to give our players something better than that.

Perhaps they will add some changes in the future, but as it looks now...reminds me of the letterhead end zone days.

I guess the way they had the drone zoom out it made it seem like they were finished. Idk.

I am happy about this, but I have to admit, that is not a top tier design. No sectioning of courts or court dividers or fence jut outs to prevent balls from interfering on other courts. I hope they aren't done and this is just a progress image.

Just spitballing, but maybe that’s the design the coach wanted?

I would hope they don’t make an expensive decision based on what a coach wants especially since they come and go quickly. I know little to nothing about tennis stuff but maybe they can’t have bright colors on the surface? Again zero clue

Needs more gold colors to accent what they have ... would go a long way.
And big damn Yosef in the middle of stadium between the two courts with the extra spacing.... whoever in charge of planning.... forgot about Yosef.... career limiting move ..#YosefMatters

You can ha e bright colors. Other schools who use yellow have their stuff all over their courts. There are also red and green and blue and purple courts out there.

No Mountaineers on the bar of the A?
They can’t be finished.
No seating for fans?

Sure looks unfinished to me.

I can't wait to go check out that site when everything is done.

From a logistics and consistancy point of view, it would be nice if the soccer and field hockey pitches could have been built at the same site. On the other hand, those two venues are currently among D1's prettiest settings in their respective sports.

Goggle App State 105 project. Things are not finished, still need to build 6 indoor courts and team area.
Video was probably to show progress.

Progress on the 105 project has been glacially slow. Very disappointing.

We can have whatever you are willing to pay for. We’ve come a long way despite the challenges.

So our athletic department can't afford 40 more ft worth of chain link fence to create the triangle barriers between the back of each court and some gold paint? If that is the case I guess all football stadium aspirations should come to a halt. All things considered, building quality tennis facilities is on the cheaper end of the sports spectrum. I am glad to see that they will have an indoor facility within walking distance that looked like it was going to have 4 courts in it. Outside of basketball, is there a women's sport left on the main campus?

This is what I mean by court dividers. RIP mens tennis.

I think this is pretty normal.
