They haven't had a full track to train at in over 5 years.
Let's see what football does with a 50 yard field without a goalpost.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Isn't indoor track in Holmes? We've hosted meets there this season.

I don't hold high hopes for the outdoor season either.

You are correct. They do have an indoor facility in which to practice. It seems that we have some outstanding performers but depth is a real problem. In perusing the results, there are many events where we don't even field any entrants.

I wonder if we have some injuries. We won or placed very high in other meets.

Most of those folks either won or placed but there are just too few of them. Of course, they could have been a performer or two.

Here is the thing you all are missing about the track.
Members of this board go on and on about how we need this for FB recruiting, this needs to be improved to raise the profile of FB.

Virtually all of our Indoor Athletes are also Outdoor Athletes. Since 2019 all our recruits have seen of a track is renderings and a field.
It is hard to recruit when you have to tell them that you will not have a dedicated facility for practice and meets in the near future.
We have had 5 recruiting classes that have yet to have a home meet or spring practice in ODTF at an App State track. There are high school coaches that are probably not recommending App like they used to because they know what coaches have promised as of late that the Department hasn't delivered on.

The thing with HCC is that they may have one full meet at HCC a year, but the rest are split meets where jumps and other field events are in VG balconies due to the floor being down for basketball. If there is an event in HCC then all track practice has to be done much earlier than normal, moved to VG where there is not track or canceled due to not having anywhere else to go to. The field events are solely practiced on the balconies of VG during the winter and there is not room to set up everything at once.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

It's definitely not an ideal situation. Hopefully, with the new facility recruiting will benefit.
