9 straight wins. Solid run. Could be another conference title if we keep rolling.

As AppfaninCAALand mentioned earlier the win is the most wins in a season since 1981. A win in the MAC tournament would tie for the most ever at 14.

Re: 2022 Field Hockey mid-season more or less
the last time i looked App was around 50 of 70 some DI programs with FH. The MAC is the weakest of the conferences in FH it seems JMU and possibly ODU are independent in FH and both were ranked.
i am not sure our FH is ready for jmu and odu every year in conference play but it would be nice to find 3 more schools from other conferences and add this to the SB. i am not sure if any schools could leave their present conference without hurting that conference and also be close enough travel wise to hold down travel costs. and we need schools that are not leaving their all-sport conference affiliation. maybe liberty could be a fourth school. liberty is also top 25 however.

Oh I agree! great progress this year and I am very proud of this team. I started the thread as there had been almost no posts on how FH had been doing. Also I was on a phone so limited typing ability. Now back on a keyboard so I have the ability to expand my thoughts.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:24 amHey I was trying to be positiveMcLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:00 amthe last time i looked App was around 50 of 70 some DI programs with FH. Just keep winning and we will start to get noticed. And we will have a better chance to recruit even better, which never hurts winning.
We are well placed in the MAC in my view.

Re: 2022 Field Hockey mid-season more or less
Actually, last year we beat #24 JMU 2-0. This year we lost to both #15 Wake and #16 Duke in OT.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:00 amthe last time i looked App was around 50 of 70 some DI programs with FH. FH up 1-0 v Kent State in the 4th period in MAC Semis.
On to the finals! 1-0 win of #2 Kent State.

Re: 2022 Field Hockey mid-season more or less
There are 83 DI hockey programs. The MAC and NEC are the perennial bottom seed conferences. JMU is an independent, ODU and Liberty play in the Big East (and are 2 of that conferences 3 best teams). All three are in the Top 25 (but with only 83 team, what is the point of a top 25 really?)McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:00 amthe last time i looked App was around 50 of 70 some DI programs with FH. If the SBC adds field hockey, in addition to ODU, JMU, and App, they will need all of the Southeast DI teams currently affiliated around randomly (Liberty, Longwood, and Queens) - and also probably someone like Coastal elevating their club team to DI. ODU, JMU, and LU in the same conference would make the SBC the third best field hockey conference, and raise App's profile

Thanks for doing all the research I wanted someone to do but did not have time. That is the exact post of info I wanted. Re: 2022 Field Hockey mid-season more or less
Maybe this will help get the tech needed to broadcast FH on ESPN+. I enjoyed watching FH when they played at KBS during the GoASU.com streaming period 12-15 years ago. The tech was in place for football but FH MSoc, WSoc were able to take advantage. It was nice.

Virginia isn't really CAALand anymore, but it is second only to PA as fieldhockeyland. Maybe I should change my screen name.
