SoCon Cups Unofficial Spreadsheet at Google Docs
I added both Commish and Germann Cups to the spreadsheet. I also added columns for # sports and points per sports. Finally I added a sheet for combining both Cups. The SoCon does not recognize a Cup for both men's and women's combined but I thought it interesting to see how that would go as well.
Next year, I'll try and update this on a weekly basis as the standings change throughout each sports seasons.

Re: SoCon Cups Unofficial Spreadsheet at Google Docs
The Sunbelt combines men's and women's sports into one cup, the Vic Bubas Cup. They also don't give as many points to the teams that don't have as many schools playing that particular sport. The SoCon gives 12 points to the regular season winner (11 points if divisions are used) regardless if 12 teams play the sport or much fewer. So ending in last past in wrestling in the SoCon will earn a school 5 points.
I'll start a Bubas Cup next year.
If anyone wants to help update this as standings change in near-real time let me know and I can add you to the allowed edit list. I'll try and do this once a week next year.

I don't really visit other SoCon schools boards (there is a rare exception), except Catamount Pride and that is mostly due to MMB and CP both being on Delphi so it was convenient. Both for those that do frequent other school message boards, or for those from other schools that are reading this feel free to spread the word about the Google Doc and the possibility of helping edit.

If this is something you want to keep up I would be happy to add a cup standings page and include your google doc. I think that would be a neat addition and people would be able to easily access it. Let me know what you think!McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:I don't really visit other SoCon schools boards (there is a rare exception), except Catamount Pride and that is mostly due to MMB and CP both being on Delphi so it was convenient. Link away. I'll start another spreadsheet next fall which will have a new link so we can have an historical record. This info is easy to find on the SoCon website, but not so much on the SB website.

Re: SoCon Cups Unofficial Spreadsheet at Google Docs
I added a few more stats - averages mostly. And with Elon losing to Furman last night in softball Elon is in last place so the women are tied with Elon for the Germann Cup unofficially as of 28 April 2013.
Hopefully we can take the SB tourney.

Elon took 2 over UTC and Samford went 1-1 over Furman in SB. With Elon not in the bottom they will take the Germann Cup lead it seems unless they lose tomorrow, and Samford wins. If Elon wins the Lady Apps have to win the SB tourney to win the Germann. Depending on the results Sunday, App and Elon might have a Germann Cup tie, but Elon has to lose and Samford win on Sunday.

Why do they have a Vic Bubas Cup? He coached at Duke in the 60's.

After his time at Duke he was the first Commish of the SB back in the 1970's.NewApp wrote:McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:The Sunbelt combines men's and women's sports into one cup, the Vic Bubas Cup. Re: SoCon Cups Unofficial Spreadsheet at Google Docs
Looks like Furman beat Samford in 8 innings. Elon is at least 1/2 game over Samford, and maybe 1.5 games depending on the outcome of the Elon-UTC game.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:Elon took 2 over UTC and Samford went 1-1 over Furman in SB. I think the only way for App to win the Germann Cup is to win the SB tourney.

Elon won in 8 innings so the Samford game was a moot point.
Off to the conf tourney in Gboro.

We head into the tourney on a two game losing streak.

Then is is time to start winning again, and we wrapped up the conf. I am sure there was some letting off the gas, though I prefer to win regardless of the situation.hapapp wrote:We head into the tourney on a two game losing streak.
I don't think we are a lock on the tourney, but we do have as good a chance as any, though I do wish we had at least had enough Germann points to tie Elon going into the tourney. VB let us down this year in the Germann.

Of course my numbers are unofficial but it appears Elon takes the Germann Cup over App State by one point.
