We were absolutely outplayed today and GSU takes the weekend. I believe that makes it a 6 match slide we are on.

It is a shame what has happened to this program. Going from 1st place to this disaster. The coach is not up to the job, there was enough talent to win, but he clearly lost the locker room. Players looked afraid to make mistakes (and from what I have heard, they had every reason to be afraid, based on how he talked to them). Very questionable strategy decisions, especially at setter.

Speaking of commitments, the resumes for the incoming athletes in softball and track & field are as good as I can ever remember.

The new facilities are helping. When they first removed the track from football the track program didnt have a home meet for 3 years and nowhere to practice. The old softball field was so bad, poor drainage, short right field, tiny locker rooms. I'm not sure what theyve finished at the new softball facilities (i think hitting cage and locker rooms still needed to be done at the end of the spring season), but I bet having those upgraded spaces is helpful to them.

I have no inside knowledge on this - but I have noticed the same thing re: how he talks to players by just watching him courtside. His demeanor and Valerie's is more akin to that of a football coach screaming at everyone than it is what you typically see in volleyball. It can honestly be uncomfortable to watch at times. At first I just chalked it up to him having a different philosophy than Sarah but the more I watch volleyball in general the more I have questioned it.
Ed Tolentino acts more like a coach.

I don't know why he didn't adjust his style when he saw the players were not responding well. He strikes me as the type of coach who thinks he is smarter than everyone else and nothing is his fault. It does not look like the players respect him at all.

Well our campus setting seems to help based on those comments

GaSo “I love the idea of a polluted drainage ditch being called a creek AND that being the highlight of campus.”

Bringing in 7 is interesting. 4 seniors on the roster. I'm sure the portal will subtract and add players here and there, but 10 presumably not graduating + 7 incoming freshman, feels like a huge team.

Olympic sports budgets are being sacrificed to fund football, yet expected to compete and win. Any success we have should be applauded.

Do other Sunbelt schools put more funding into their Olympic sports than App? Curious if anyone knows.

Well, ODU has a dedicated volleyball facility, but they had that before they entered the SBC.
