USMNT takes Group A; Advances to Copa America QF

Unread post by asu66 » Mon Jun 13, 2016 3:44 am

In case you were wondering...

Clint Dempsey (Furman '04) scored the Friday night winner in the first half, sparking his US team to a 1-0 win over Paraguay in the Copa America Centenario. With the win, J.Klinsmann shook off the pressure and managed his team to the Group A title and a berth in the Copa quarterfinals. Center back John Brooks dominated the Paraguayans during the game's last 48 minutes while his US side was playing a man down following a red card on fellow defender DeAndre Yedlin.

Next, the US (without Yedlin) will face Ecuador at 9:30 ET Thursday night on FS1. The game is expected to draw rowdy support for the US side at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
