You know (or don't) how soaps build up the inevitable big cliffhanger for the Friday episode and the place was PACKED with girls for the meeting between Laura, who had gone missing, or maybe it was Luke, but anyway at the very end, they finally saw each other and the show ended. There was a huge scream from all the girls, more like a squeal.t4pizza wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 11:59 pmI read where 30 million people tuned into the General Hospital episode when Luke and Laura got married. 30 million in 1981 is insane for a daytime television show. Played Buck Rogers the Lead in Buck Rogers in the 25th century on NBC. Passed away after a short battle with cancer.
Anthony Geary of General Hospital fame - Played Luke of Luke and Laura fame on GH. If you were at App during that time and you were a dude chasing girls around, you probably sat through one or two episodes. It was pretty big in those days
There was another segment who watched All My children or whatever other soap was on at the same time, and it was very popular as well. They were all watching over the partitions to see what was going on.
It was a big deal.

Apparently Greg Biffle and his family just died in his plane crashing in Statesville.
I followed Biffle more recently after he helped out so much right after Helene.

Super super sad. He did so much for WNC.
Praying for that family and loved ones. Especially during Christmas season.

Greg probably did as much as any individual in the survival and recovery efforts. And, he did a tremendous job putting the word out of what kind of help was needed. Incredibly sad.

Here in Iredell we lost a truly great family. Greg and his wife did so much around here and they will be missed by so many. The amount of lives they touched is unreal.

Also lost Craig Wadsworth of Statesville in this tragic accident. He was very connected to Greg and many other drivers. Drove their RVs and did many other things for them.
He too will be missed.

I've been mimicking the Jim Hunt eastern NC accent since the 80's, loved to hear him speak.

One evening many years ago I was fortunate to be in the company of Governors Hunt , Martin, Scott and Sanford. Jim Martin alone remains and recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Time waits for no one.

Re: The J Cline Memorial Celebrity Obituaries
RIP Coach Joe Eller. I found out last Wednesday (Jan. 7) that Coach Joe Eller of Gastonia passed away about 6 months ago. I met him at the golf course where I was working 3 years ago. I got to talk with him a few times. I found out that he was an alum and former football player under coach E. C. Duggins. He was one of the renown “Duggins’ Boys.” He was a real treat to talk to and to get some insight into Mountaineer football way back in the day. His stories of Coach Duggins were epic to say the least!

We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Catherine O’Hara passed away yesterday at the age of 71. Man, she was a comedic genius.
