I have been warning my elected officials for years that the lack of trust in the federal government would have consequences. And make no mistake the federal government has earned the lack of trust. Not saying that FEMA has done anything wrong, I don’t know. But there are new rumors that FEMA is taking supplies from Western NC and diverting them to illegals. Let me be very clear, I am not saying this is happening, I doubt it is happening. But if we didn’t let 10s of millions of illegals in people wouldn’t be scared that the support they need would be diverted to help illegals. Action have consequences. And in this case the consequences will hurt people in Western NC.

True. But don’t use five letters when four will do.

Local radio guy from WBT 1110 is scheduled to broadcast live from Bat Cave tonight. Billed as sort of a town hall conversation. Could help us all understand the actual local perspective.

I didn’t get to listen either but he had actually already been up to Bat Cave and was aware of the situation. The same guy also flew with Samaritan’s Purse on delivery drops to some other isolated areas. A guy with the courage to do the work to be able to report the truth of the situation.

Providence Roofing is giving away a free roof someone who needs it, and will do it for someone in Watauga county and I believe Avery county. Good for up to 10 thousand dollars. Nominate someone who needs a new roof at providenceroofs.com . Just heard a radio interview and they said they'd love to do one for a hurricane victim, but it's probably open to everyone. They do it every Christmas.

Do you have any idea which areas may have local owner operator shops open. We want to go up this weekend and buy as many Christmas presents as we can from local folks in the damage zone.

Suggest downtown Burnsville or Hendersonville. I don’t know what’s up and running in Spruce Pine. And thank you.

I was thinking about trying Banner Elk and running south west from there. Wanted to at least go through Bat Cave.

You can’t go through Bat Cave unless something has changed drastically. Banner Elk is open for business. The roads in parts of Avery, Mitchell and Yancy are frankly dangerous. Be aware and take care.

Lake Luray Chimney Rock. Facebook video is about the worst I've seen so far

I know some of these things can get confusing and I'm absolutely not trying to be a smarta**. Lake Lure is a tiny town in Rutherford County, NC.

Luray Caverns are located in the Shenandoah National Park of VA.

Just a reminder: help is still needed. The Amish from Pennsylvania sent a 62-person crew and built 12 tiny homes from $300,000 of their community money. If you can spare the funds, then donate to local organizations.

It just dawned on me, that is one well-built deck.

Wow, just lets you know there are good people everywhere. So much for having an absolute hatred for UNC.

I know him casually and may have passed on information from him here a time or two. He is a decent person, with a really good sense of humor.
