RIP Dickey Betts
Passed away earlier today at age 80. Co founder of the Allman Brothers band. Amazing songwriter and guitarist.

Re: RIP Dickey Betts
I was lucky enough to see him on what I think was his final tour as Great Southern. They did an unforgettable version of Stormy Monday. Always hoped he could reconcile with Greg Allman and play with the Allman Brothers again. But that wish died with Greg’s passing. I hope the guys who are left, Warren Haynes, Derick Trucks, a Oteal can create that music live again some day.

The Derek Trucks band is one worth seeing if you want to get close to that Allman Bros feeling again.

That would be Tedechie Trucks now. They mix in a cover or two from the Allman Brothers. Fabulous band, and yes you do get that jam band vibe.

Only saw Gregg live. It was great but I remember wishing the whole time that it was the Allman Brothers.

That would be Elvin Bishop. Saw the Allman Brothers at the August Jam, Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1974. Just out of high school.
