UNC Governance

Unread post by McLeansvilleAppFan » Fri Feb 10, 2023 10:25 am

The thread about UNC-CH and its governance was taken down. I never read any of the thread after the first post or two so I am not sure if it touched a nerve and someone wanted to censor it or the thread went off on a wild ride and grew to be a be much with opinions.

Anywhoooo, I just read about this, which touches on some important issues.

Interesting; no wonder I hate the UNC BOG so much! The make up doesn’t reflect North Carolina.

Long story short, the article suggest that the standard of those on the governance of N.C. public universities should no longer based on one's merit. The standard now needs to be based on one's race, sex, and political affiliation.
... seems logical.

Do you think the current members are there based on merit?

Politics and donations…….

Should start with the UNC Board of Governors. Less UNC and more everyone else....

I know when a standard isn't on merit ... race, sex, and political affiliation.

Interesting.Based on the information in the article , if accurate , the Boards are much more diverse now than they have historcally been.

We do have an App alum on the board. He and I shared an apartment in the early-mid 80s (Mountaineer Apts). Have not talked to him since he graduated in 1985. His term ends this year.
