Re: Search engine discussion
Believe it or not some libraries still have them. Our local newspaper has issues going back into the 1930's on microfilm and microfiche. But if I need to use microfilm, I'll just come to your house and use yours.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:26 pmWhich library do you guys go to for microfilm research?

NewApp, they are taking the piss with you. MySpace was Facebook before Facebook was Facebook. It is still around however.NewApp wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 1:57 pmMy browser is not out dated, I don't think. It is Opera which one other member of this forum uses and that person is pretty computer savvy. But anyway...AppStateNews wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 1:50 pmThey are too new -- they don't work on outdated browsers and search engines.NewApp wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 1:38 pmWell, much to you guys' pleasure, I will stay out of this discussion because I don't even know what MySpace, Friendster, or SixDegrees are. Probably don't need to know either.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 1:21 pmFor alternatives to MySpace for social media, do you guys prefer Friendster or SixDegrees?

Re: Search engine discussion
I know this is showing a very geeky side of me but I enjoyed spending a bit of time reading some of the old New York Times microfilm in the bottom of Belk Library. Lots of good labor history when papers would cover the news in detail and variety.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:26 pmWhich library do you guys go to for microfilm research?

I typed that deleted and then typed it out again. And I even did a thumbs up on one of the posts earlier as it was funny.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:39 pmMac, since when did you become the fun police?McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:36 pmNewApp, they are taking the piss with you. I am not sure what I was thinking beyond I was beginning to be feel bad for someone that was being f'ed with and did not even realize he was being f'ed with. Had it been a GaSo fan, then go at it,but NewApp is one of our own.

Re: Search engine discussion
I didn't feel f'd with. I guess all that shit went right over my head. All that computer and internet stuff does. I still say that there's nothing wrong with Yahoo. Whether it's Bing, Ling, Ding a Ling or whatever. It works great for me. I love its email, news page, and the searches tell me what I'm looking for while Google just plain sucks. Besides google wants badly to become a monopoly. I couldn't care less about whatever MySpace is or was except I didn't know whether it was new thing or old. Facebook gives me all I need. I especially like OMJ.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 5:21 pmI typed that deleted and then typed it out again.
