Not reading through this whole thread but I saw on local news yesterday Georgia’s governor was attempting to temporarily eliminate the state’s gas tax. Which would instantly bring gas prices down about 35 cents in the state.

Real look at the true cost of gasoline based on value of the dollar and inflation factors.
A real clean perspective! As a junior at APP in 1973 we started the year at 25 cents a gallon and by December (time to go home for Christmas break) it was 50 cents a gallon. On top of that I was limited to 5$ when buying gas to go home because we were in a oil shortage. Thank goodness there is no shortage now we would be having mass suicides.
What really grinds my gears is the US only imported about 8% of our crude oil from Russian sources. The pre Russian oil ban price of gas in Indy was about 3.25. I may be nieve and I know that getting others sources up and running to the refineries takes time but....
A ten percent rise at the pump would equal

+10% =3.57
+20% =3.90 Hmm well okay?
+30% =4.22 Are you kidding me?
+40% =4.54 WTF is going on here? This is about where the price is here overnight, Its gouging my friends pure and simple.
Yeah, it seems like some of our anger is pointed toward the wrong people/entities.
I’m sure some companies will take advantage of the situation but it’s not just about how much oil we buy from Russia. We buy oil from the global market. There isn’t a price for Russian oil and a different price for Canadian oil. Oil is priced for the global market. But you guys keep blaming anybody but the folks at the root of the cause.

Yes, please - I still haven't figured out how I can get gas one day at my local station at 2.50 a gallon and the very next day at the same local station it is 2.90 - It's the same gas that was in the tanks yesterday???

Lol I just read it cost anywhere from 7000$ to 15,000$ to replace a battery pack in an type S. And they said they should last 8 years or 100,000 miles. That’s hard to believe .

Here's what I don't understand...it was always known where I live that as you go south towards Harrisonburg and Staunton that gas was cheaper. I suppose it had something to do with taxes, but nonetheless it was cheaper. Now, and really before the Ukraine conflict, those same known to have cheaper gas stations in Harrisonburg and Staunton are now the same price as where I live.

The Grahams Forge exit on Interstate 81 before you take the exit for Interstate 77 was also always known to be a good place to fill up for less...When I came to Boone at the end of December their gas was priced the same as most other places where I live.

Definitely something not right about things.

Hey I think it would be cool if we made a thread where we just sent positive messages, prayers, and good vibes towards the people, and especially the children trying to survive the genocidal maniac and also take a moment for all the people, and especially the children who have already died because a sociopathic dictator that gives no craps about human life decided he wanted their land. The children that will never get to go to school. The children that will never get to hug their parents again. The children that will never get to grow up and drive a car and worry about gas prices.

Nah, nevermind, y'all just keep crying about gas prices. It's all good.

Will the USA find the courage to lead the world again? Will our leadership do everything possible to protect these vulnerable people and innocent lives from being lost? When we are not all in, sit on the fence, wring one’s hands or just play geo-politics, we will watch real evil happen before our eyes on TV. I pray for our country. I hope we will find the courage to lead again.

Give some examples where the US led AND was doing it to protect innocent lives. I am not going to suggest it has never has happened. I can think of some times we were intervening to put down popular governments in Central America that were not friendly to American agribusiness interest. I can think of a few times we have supported terrible countries ourselves that were not democracies and had terrible human rights but they had things we wanted such as energy and raw materials.

There have been a few times we came in after things had developed and were on the right side of history, but I don’t think we were leading.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.
