Is it acceptable to anyone that millions of Afghans are on the brink of starvation?

There are quite a few things that are unacceptable...
Lets not try to cherry pick ones to start the divisive debate again.

Rek, Not cherry picking. Just asking as NY Times and ABC News were reporting the situation as dire and I've not seen anything in the news/media for the past ~month. Thinking of the Afghan and Ukrainian people tonight.

What are you willing to risk? I have a lot of issues with how this was handled going back months-was our Intel so bad we didn't see it coming or did we just fail to act in time? I doubt we will ever know the answers .
This is been in the news for months..... Russia has been assembling large amounts of troops at the Ukrainian border and Putin's been talking about demands on Ukraine and NATO to forever bid Ukrainian membership in NATO All the while saying or else something will happen but yet always saying I'm not going to invade Ukraine. Obviously, gas lighting authoritative dictators aren't exactly someone you should trust; the poor civilians trying to escape who he keeps bombing even though he says there's a ceasefire for evacuees.

That would depend on how you judge the acceptable vs the unacceptable. When I find something unacceptable I do everything in my power to change it. If you use that criteria then I would say most of the world finds it acceptable.

Thank you bcoach. If I was a teacher grading your answer I would give you an A+ 💯.
Sadly, I too have the same view of the world right now.

Agree. There been attrocities that happe all around the world, in several countries in Africa as just one example, over the many years...and no one volunteered to intervened to save lives..it is only important if there is an end game....and it seems saving innocent lives is not a high priority unless their is another higher endgame... whatever that is in a particular situation.

If I could say one thing to the Ukrainian people it would this, I admire you, but please make your decisions going forward with this in mind. No western nation is going to actively join this battle with you. You will be given weapons and as many supplies as we can get to you but the fight itself will be yours. Make no mistake, individuals from around the would will come and fight along side you but no western nation will officially join this battle. They need to know that fact. Truth is we help put them in this situation but we, the USA, aren’t going to enter this war.

I agree and the way we left was shameful and unacceptable. However they didn’t want to fight at all for their country. I mean not even a little

Can you imagine, if you and your family are in your house while being threatened by a gang of burglars who are trying to cause harm, you call 911, and the best response you get is, "I'm sorry, but we're worried about carbon emissions & the environment too much to come physically help you. We're pulling hard for you though. Good luck & go team."

What in the hell do carbon emissions in the environment have to do with any of this?

I assume he is alluding to the fact that the west is dependent on oil from Dictators instead of producing their own. Now the US is begging the Saudi's for more oil and negotiating to buy from Iran and Venezuela. Seems like they believe only oil and gas produced in the US effect climate change.

The answer is a whole lot. Russia depends on oil for revenue. This is not an arguable point. We just recently told the oil and gas producers in the US that we, or government, was going to shut them down. This is not an arguable point. They responded by investing in other countries and our domestic production fell. We now need oil from Russia. They not only have our money to fund the war but leverage. It’s national security insanity. I’m not against innovation and “green” energy but right now we still need oil and gas. Even Elon Musk said so. We are funding our enemies. One more time, it’s national security insanity.

Were we not "Energy Independent" at some point? In any event , gas and oil are strategic weapons .Who didn't know this ?

Sanctions are most of what we (NATO and other countries opposing this invasion)have as a defense against Russia invasion. Places like Germany and Finland get a much higher % of their oil supply from Russia. I hope they impose oil related sanctions against Russia, however, that may be difficult given their amount of dependence on it. I am not confident they will. Although not a large % of Russia's lol export is not to US, I would like to see from a general stance against the invasion perspective.

Okay got it. I think I took your analogy the wrong direction and we're poking fun at the worldwide need to be far far far less dependent on oil. My bad. I'm sorry.

Obviously, I know that the world's dependence on oil and gas is the primary of worldwide foreign policy.
