"Steve Long, a member of the UNC Board of Governors, said in a written statement Monday that Staton was pushed out by board Chairman Harry Smith over "politics, not the chancellor's performance." Long essentially called for Smith's removal less than a year after the board voted unanimously to make Smith chair.

"Harry Smith has done damage to the University of North Carolina system and particularly to East Carolina University," Long wrote. "Until he is gone, Harry Smith will continue to do damage to our state's greatest asset.""

Why should we want her gone? She’s done a pretty good job IMO.

Sounds like Smith was pissy he didn't get his buddies a contract to build apartments at ECU and took it out on the chancellor. Smith sounds like he needs to go himself.

I’ve had the same take on Everts for years. I’ve said any time her name is brought up that I want her gone. I’m not sure how that’s different from others who have called for coaches to be terminated.

Because your only logic is she isn’t peacock, she had a duck house installed on duck pond, and she promotes inclusiveness on campus.
There are no winning or losing records to measure success like a coach.

Her handling of Thursday game day classes and parking
Her firing of Cindy Wallace
Her inability to pronounce Appalachian 3 years into her job.
Her continued wasting of money on things like: a duck house, a golf cart/school bus, a PR firm to help with her image ($25k+).
