Charlotte hotspots?

My brother in law just started law school at the University of Charlotte. He's 24, had to leave his girlfriend behind in Baltimore, hasn't lived away from home before, etc. It's been a few years since I've been to Charlotte, so I thought maybe some of you could give me some suggestions of things to do/places to eat.
Also, the school has discouraged him from taking a job, but he thinks he may need some part-time work for living expenses, etc. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

What is your brother-in-law doing with a girlfriend.

I had to think about that for a second.

OK, maybe I'm being dense here, but... wrong side.

Two ways to be a brother-in-law:
One is your sister's husband; the other is your wife's (or husband's) brother.
If it's your sister's husband, then the girlfriend might be a problem...

FTR, Baby Mountaineer, it's the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, sometimes referred to as UNC-Harrisburg.

I thought he meant UNCC too, when he first said it, but it's not. Actually just found out the "proper" name is Charlotte School of Law. Independent law-only institution.
Come on gang! No one has a recommendation for even a 'que joint? I'm shocked.

Sauceman's is good for BBQ, and so is Bill Spoons. You can't go wrong with Price's Chicken Coop. You should also send him north to Huntersville to Harvey's...an ASU bar. If he likes bar-dives he can hit up Montford Drive and the Roasting Company there is a good food joint. Dish on Thomas Street is great for southern food.
