These guys say Hello...
Tyler Zeller = Academic All American of the Year for 2 Years.
Marcus Paige = 2nd Team Academic All American.

Your turn now...
You act like having more true student athletes will cover for the ones that clearly aren't. This isn't a game where points are scored for and against, one score against tarnishes all.

There are many great student athletes at UNCCH, the first one that signed that letter is a friend of mine in Charlotte and a great guy that earned his degree. I feel sorry for real student athletes like him that today have to deal with the ones that did it the wrong way (and the system that let it occur).

The new UNCCH mantra is everyone does it, yep you're unfortunately right. However few do it to the extent UNCCH does (90% of NCAA institutions can't afford it), and none to my knowledge have claimed to the extent UNCCH has they haven't done it the past 30+ years.

You should be telling Patch this not me. I've NEVER said anything about what has happened is right.
In fact I've said many times they should be given the hammer.
I still pull for them as my 2nd team and always have.
Nothing wrong with that.

Well....Rashad did make the Dean's List.....

App grads who bleed blue, make me sick.

If you are talking about me you are sadly mistaken.
I bleed black and gold.
Season tickets for years.
Never given a dime to any other college other than ASU.

I just happen to pull for UNC as my 2nd school.
To bad you only bleed one color. There are plenty of great institutions out there...
It's the haters on here that try to make me out as a UNC lover and ASU hater.

I don't think anybody thinks you hate ASU... it's just hard to fathom somebody being an ASU fan AND a UNC fan. App and Carolina stand for such totally different things.

In my opinion, Appalachian stands for equality, family, pride, being down-to-earth, giving back to the community that gave to you, and adventure. UNC stands for those who think they are better than everybody else and want to tell you why you're inferior. I'm not saying this is true for 100% of the students and alumni, but I have lost touch with a great deal of my friends that went/go there because of that very attitude.

If you think that UNC regards any institution, let alone Appalachian State, as an equal and not an inferior, you are sadly mistaken. NC State despises UNC for that very reason... which is also why most other schools in the UNC System hate Carolina. UNC-Chapel Hill does not show the best qualities of the UNC System... it shows some of the worst.

Of course you are... Danny Green is a Tar Heel.

As for McCants, how many Heel fans said he was a loose cannon while he was the #2 scorer for the 2005 Championship team?

Plenty of people knew he was psycho then.
Matt Daughtery had him scheduled with a psychologist during those times but he refused to go...

I also agree to the point of "where there is smoke there is fire" too but I want to hear it from someone else that is more reliable.
Why did Mccants come out after 9 years and say this?

PS... The UNC degree has to be post of the year...
Did you watch the HBO Real Sports piece on this topic? The young men they interviewed seemed quite credible and tell much the same story. Told their major would be Interdisciplinary Studies, handed a list of classes to take and told your job is to maintain eligibility. Took bogus classes to keep eligibility and made F's and D's in legit classes. One kid made 13 F's and another 7 D's and is still the proud owner of a degree from UNC Chapel Hill. Even for the holes I am sure this is the exception rather than the rule. BUT IT DID HAPPEN AND WILL HAPPEN OTHER PLACES IF THEY DO NOT GET PUNISHED! !

Having said that I really doubt that the NCAA will do anything. With all the threats from the P5 about D-IV they are scared poopless to touch them. If they come down hard on one more big program they can kiss million of $$$ goodbye and they know it.
Not to lessen anyone's enjoyment of another University's pain, but I believe that the student with 13 F's was Dasmine Cathey at Memphis. Please resume regularly scheduled bashing of other programs if that's what it takes to make you feel better about yourself. If for one second you think that this improves the world's perception of ASU, you might want to rethink that.

Yes, the same Michael McAdoo that failed a class due to cheating says hello. He plagiarized a paper for one of these "paper" classes, also known as independent study, and lost his appeal.

I feel fortunate to have earned degrees from both institutions, and my experiences were excellent at both. However, I was not an athlete at UNC so there's no way for me to comment first hand on their programs.

Yep, but this kind of stuff could have been happening when Dean was there, too. Maybe it just didn't see the light of day. Who knows. This kind of thing just doesn't pop up all of a sudden.
One thing I admire about Dean Smith was that he gave a lot of minorities a chance at getting a college education, because he believed they could achieve great things at a time when nobody else in the south did. If he believed a student couldn't do the work, I want to believe that he moved on to the next prospect he felt could. I also want to believe that he would not allow UNC-CH to place a student in classes such as this, because telling a student they can't do the work required of the rest of the student body and giving them no show, no work classes in African studies, but allowing them to dribble a basketball, is almost as racist as what George Wallace did at Alabama.

UNC is and always will be a great institution of higher learning. But it is painfully clear that many of the tar heel athletes are not having to subscribe to standard academic practices many UNC alums had to work so hard to attain. Are there more than two kids doing it the right way? Of course, it is just hysterical that you will find any reason to defend them at all costs. When the news about my childhood team Miami(the U) came I out I was able to easily separate myself from being a fan and realize just how egregious the program had become. The same superiority/inferiority complex is played out is every state in the country. UCF and USF get the shaft from FSU ans FU. Western Kentucky is miles behind UK in resources and reputation. If you went to ETSU, you would complain about UT. It's all releveant to the state that your alma mater is in. Deal with it.

I really don't think most mid-major state schools get the shaft from their flagship with the severity and frequency that we do in North Carolina. And I'm dead sure no other flag ship schools, or any schools at all for that matter, are responsible for any scandals as ongoing and egregious as what goes on at UNC.

Being overshadowed in the media and disproportionate tax $ distribution are one thing. The active oppression UNC System members endure at the hands of our slave masters is unparalleled IMO. Granted, I haven't spent years following such matters in other states.

Did I state "A Professor had an ax to grind?"
If I did I have no idea why I would say such a thing?
Please link where I said that and I will stand corrected....

PS. If you go back and look at past post you will easily see that I've said if UNC did what is being said I have no problems with what the NCAA does. How many times do I have to repeat this?
I've NOT defended them.
Maybe what Mccants said was true but there is NO one on this universe that won't say he is a nut job. He is not a reliable source to base things that Roy knew all this. All the previous players stated the opposite of what he said.
This is not "defending" UNC. It is saying give me a more reliable source before I'll believe it really happened. Not the fake classes but about Roy knowing all this happened...

It has been proven that UNC-CHeat has done what is being said, and the NCAA has done nothing.

And you have no problem with that.

That's a loaded question. That's like saying, Daddy, I deserve 5 licks from the belt not 2 or Judge, I deserve life in prison instead of 10 years...
I'm fine with what ever the NCAA decides. I may not like it but it is what it is, the law of the land.
If they ban them for 5 years then so be it. If they get off then so be it.
