We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Some interesting tidbits about App's enrollment:
- 21,570 students
- 91% undergrad
- 57% female
- 10.3% or 2,223 are out of state
- Top five states are SC, VA, GA, FL, TN
- over 6k are first generation students, a shocking number really
- 204 students are over 50, still a chance old timers
https://analytics.appstate.edu/enrollment
This reminds me of the FL people I knew at App that only had been up during summer prior to starting school. Had not prepped for winter at all.
Little shocked there is that many families that have 1st gen students.
And crap I'm getting close to that 50 mark but those are undergrad #s for over 50 I assume, I haven't seen to many in my grad classes that are over 50. I seem to be the oldest in most of my classes so far.
It has been over 4 years ago as our daughter is on her last semester, during her orientation, they had sessions for first generation college kids. Although our daughter was not, I thought that was a great session to have ..you don't know what you don't know so to speak.
If nothing else, you find out that you are not in this by yourself...

In the 70s at ASU, we were in a dorm room where you had to squeeze between the bunks and had a little study area behind, went down the hall to the restroom and shower, etc. Today, it is big time living, all the amenities available. Every campus under construction for various buildings. No wonder the costs of attending are so high. And we thought we had it made. No problems and great time for $950 semester.

And I think we got a better education for the times than they do today. Standards are lower now, classes are offered that have no redeeming value, students are not as close, and I wonder if they are having a good time while they are being educated as we had. Told all three of mine that they didn’t have to go to college, there may be more value in getting trained and educated another way. But they all went college anyway.

Even the online class have gone downhill to me. When I started my online master program in '22 each class would meet at least once a week and you could meet or just watch the recorded session. It has went down to no meetings and no lectures, just read a book, do homework/quizes, take exams and do the projects. Really no interaction with professors except if you need help/have questions and have to email them.

Yep, my daughter feels the same way. Not putting all professors in this category, however, there seems to be more occurrences of not providing a similar student experience for webinar/online classes as in class. I get it that it will not be exactly the same. However, at least give it the ole college try.
With that said, there are some good ones that do provide a good online experience for the students.

Pssh. We’ve been doing this since the 80s.
