We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

If I understand you correctly you would prefer we all allow you to celebrate your religion in public, but someone that has some political speech can not as it might hurt your feelings, and therefore that should not be allowed, regardless of what the 1st Amendment has to say on the issue.

Re: NY Gov Gun Laws...
I think someone moved from the 2nd Amendment and made a comment on the 1st Amendment. Then I mentioned I had joined the ACLU recently. Then the thread went all to pot, which I was very much a part of I must admit.AppGrad1 wrote:How did my freakin GUN thread get hijacked!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So back to all the gun deaths. I am expecting to find someone on the web from a recent killing in a day or two if not sooner and we can get this thread turned back to the start.

Sure could go for an "eastern style" BBQ sandwich and a stadium cup of Pepsi with ice in it about now

Good sir, you have now broached a subject that the very utterance of will cause such gnashing of teeth. I truly shudder to think what may happen now.YesAppCan wrote:Sure could go for an "eastern style" BBQ sandwich and a stadium cup of Pepsi with ice in it about now

And Lexington style with optional ice in a stadium cup is my preference.

I'm not sure who mentioned it earlier, but someone said something to the effect of letting everyone exercise their rights to free speech. If it truly is hateful and repulsive, like the Nazi's or Westboro, it will not draw people to it and those organizations will wither away.
With that in mind I found it interesting that two granddaughters of Fred Phelps, the pastor at Westboro Baptist, have just recently left the church.

Just how stupid can this thing get. This does not speak well for the Democrats.
Kinda reminds me of a movie I saw once with Gene Hackman in it about this same thing. Can't remember the title.
PS. I did get a large sum of money once for dropping a hammer on my toe. There wasn't a notice posted on the hammer saying it could hurt you if dropped. I sued Craftsman Tools for negligence and got rich!

Re: NY Gov Gun Laws...
There has to be common sense to balance the First Ammendment purists. The courts could take care of that since almost every case that hits the higher level federal courts has a strong elemement of subjectivity.. The Nazis at Skokie were trying to incite a riot. That's obvious to anyone who has studied the goals of the more extreme Neo-Nazi types. The Klan tried to do the same thing in a town I was teaching in at that time by getting a permit to put on a parade consisting of just themselves. The local govt granted the permit but should have been allowed to charge them for all the extra law enforcement that was necessarily provided.
