Re: Boone Vandalism Case
Yep, if I got a paddling at school, I got double at home and our junior high principal was one of my Dad's best friends - even with that I got no slack from him at school and I also knew he would inform my dad - and I WAS NOT a bad kid at all - they just put up with no crap back in the day (60s) ---

As others have said, while the vandalism was stupid, it certainly doesn't warrant felony charges. Restitution and community service are adequate punishments.

+restitution obviously. That's first and foremost.bigCasu wrote:Interestingly enough, neither had any record outside of a traffic ticket. They'll get community service, court costs and unsupervised probation. They won't see any time behind bars as long as they behave going forward.BTK2000 wrote:That doesnt stop people from committing crimes. It just makes it impossible for them to be productive members of society. It was a non-violent crime that posed no danger to the safety of the residents of boone. They should have to clean up the paint and compensate the owners of the buildings. That justice in my eyes
Obviously not a felony. Just pay for the damage and get on with your life.
I just hope that once they pay it all off and their probation is terminated they don't look back and think they "did the right thing." There are a lot of people in American right now who would feel justified about doing ANYTHING as long as it's anti-Trump. Dangerous slope, there.

Re: Boone Vandalism Case
This was not 15 year old kids spraying "Jimmy Loves Susie" on a bridge. It was a group of four 22 & 23 year old adults damaging property and defacing community businesses with racially and politically charged graffiti. Like most "protests" today, it had nothing to do with free speech and everything to do with lawlessness and vandalism. In this case, it happened to be against the university and town we hold so dearly. What did Earth Fare or the Daniel Boone Inn do to any of them anyway? I"m not sure it should be a felony, but let's not dismiss it as a teenage prank either. I'd say stiff restitution, community service, probation sounds about right, plus expulsion from the university for the ASU students. With so many deserving students working hard to get into APP, we don't need those who wish to damage Boone.

There are guidelines for punishment. I hope they get the max allowed by law and yes the two students should be sent home for the rest of this year at a minimum.

I say they should be expelled. College is where you go to become adults and learn to be functioning members of society. I think it's clear that they are failing to learn how to be adults.

I never lived on campus at App State so I don't know if it's true or not, but I've seen doors with locks on both sides if there is a bathroom shared by two rooms.

Re: Boone Vandalism Case
I don't know of any dorms that are suite style like this, but there have been some new dorms on campus since my time. Some dorms did have a single tub/shower/toilet/sink room that I guess was for wheelchair access, but I don't remember it having a lock on the outside when I was in this dorm during a summer program. Double-sided locks do exist and certainly do when a bathroom is between two rooms and is shared as you described, but I am not aware of anything like that on campus. And even then there would be a second door to the other room, which she could have gotten to if she ran quickly from one room to the other AND had access to both rooms from the hallway. Not impossible, but I was just trying to get my head around where this would be able to take place on campus.TheMackAttack wrote:McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:Locks on the OUTSIDE, really? Re: Boone Vandalism Case
This was in Newland Hall on the new side. The bathroom connects to a different bedroom so people have to be able to lock the door from people coming in from the bathroom, otherwise anyone could sneak into their room and steal. If the other side was locked as well, then they have no way out. The girl walked through the bathroom while she was showering, locked her door from their side (the room mate was out of town) and went back to her room and locked the door and left.

Why did you delete this? If true, as many people need to know all that as possible.ComebackShack wrote:[redacted]

It was a pretty fat block of text, so I'll let him send you a PM or repost it. In short: a bunch of stories about these girls doing very shitty things to people they disagreed with politically.MtnMan09 wrote:Gonzo what was the gist of the original post?Gonzo wrote:Why did you delete this?
