Polara Golf balls

Anyone ever use those Polara golf balls that are supposed to be impossible to slice? Did they work? I have seen them advertised a lot lately and was wondering if anyone ever played them.

I personally haven't played them but have seen the ads. As someone who has been playing golf since I was 7 and was a scratch golfer before I hurt my knee, no ball or club can ever stop a slice if your swing is bad enough. Clubs with a draw or fade setting can take a ball hit SLIGHTLY offcenter and bring it back around but if the club is more than a couple of degrees off flush, left or right, or if the club hits the ball in the wrong place in the arc of the swing (ie too far forward or back in your stance) then that's where the ball is going no matter what kind it is. I have a bunch of friends who are club pros and a few that play on both the senior and regular tour (the clubs I was playing with before the knee were built by Callaway for Bruce Fleisher, I got them from him). I'll ask around for you and let you know but I supect the answer will be the same.

You've seen my shots, I would love to get a hold of these golf balls and see if that really is the case.

OK...I called three club pros I know at some well known clubs and, according to them, the ball will cut slice and hook by about half, based on robot tests. The reports they read said the robot was set up for about a 70 foot slice and the Polara cut that by about half compared to some top brand balls. Just as I said though, if the swing is real bad it's not going to help THAT much. The one big problem is that they are not legal for any play other than the everyday golfer. I know most people aren't going to be in any national or regional tournaments but keep in mind that any sanctioned club match applies also. If it's just you and the gang then I would give them a shot. It can't hurt to try them.

Thanks for the follow up! I was curious but think I will pass. I have been playing the Bridgestone E6's and like them. When I do lose one right I don't think there is a ball alive that can stop it.

Hopefully it wont happen so often that I am looking for an illegal ball for help.
