Agree, but at the same time it doesn't surprise me. On paper you look and see, wow no longer a roster full of just MLS players. Many of the guys are playing overseas and against better competition. Flip that page over and notice many are on lower table squads and even with that they aren't dominating or putting up insane numbers.

I think the great individual talent is there for some of the players, but still a long ways to go for all 11 spots. Also, still some work to do in terms of playing as a team at the international level.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying but by the same token I don’t understand. This has been the argument/explanation for years for US soccer shortcomings. Its baffling how we lose to countries the size of average US states.

US soccer compared to many in the rest of the world. It is the national past-time in some countries. It is not so in the US. We have many kids playing at younger ages but that has has not translated to many elite players at the adult level as more kids transition to football, basketball, baseball etc ..so not many playing at highest level in Europe and other places.
With my work, I have traveled to South America.. Brazil and Argentina specifically. When traveling around those countries, you see kids playing on dirt courts, fields with only patches of grass...at a very early age and do not play other sports and/or choose soccer as it is national past-time for them...the kids see it as their way out of poverty....that is a strong motivator to be hungry and great....

I will preface this with I do not follow soccer until the World Cup or the US team (men/women) are playing.

The red flag to go down to 10 players was a stupid bonehead play. Was absolutely no reason for it, especially after the goal was called back for offsides. Maybe there will be a day when we can make more noise on the men’s side in soccer, but to Bamboos point, the other country’s players see this as their way out of poverty at a young age an really hone in on perfecting the craft without playing multiple sports.

It's a judgement call. I watch a lot of soccer and I've seen that present a card in the past and I've also seen similar to last night, no card presented. Personally, I think no card was the right decision. Momentum with the help of a small push from Robinson, combined with the fact he appears to be looking up for the ball the entire time. Just an accidental collision in my book.

What Weah did is not a judgement call. Any hand, fist, or forearm to the neck or head nowhere near the ball or as part of the play is a send off every time.

Thanks for your response - I always was under the impression no contact at all on the keeper was allowed --- as some on here have previously mentioned I don't watch a lot of soccer but I do watch these international tournaments-country vs country. Our daughter played a lot of soccer from 5-6 yr old thru middle-high school, travel soccer and ODP and from my background knowledge I was shocked at the no-call

I have seen a lot of sports in my many decades and tonight's game holds true - from the lowest levels to COPA AMERICA soccer refs are the absolute worst
