It's Senior Day at Georgia Southern, that pinnacle of higher ed, situated on that gnat-infested drainage ditch that Erk Russell once named "Beautiful Eagle Creek" and required his players to wallow in it before every practice session. RPI #223 Southern (13-14, 9-8 Sun Belt) appears for the last time this season in Hanner Field House to honor lone senior Devince Boykins and play host to the Apps.

The RPI #279 Mountaineers (7-20, 5-11 Sun Belt) enter tonight's game with their backs to the wall and still staggering from three straight losses to the Eagles--two extreme blowouts and a one-point loss in late January in a game they led 100-97 with 5.5 secs on the clock--only to lose 101-100 after a couple of miscues and a questionable foul call. All in the blink of the eye.

To call this a must-win game for the Apps is to understate the obvious implications. Our team is mired in 10th place in the league--two games out of 8th place and the last seed in the Sun Belt Tourney--with only four games left to play. If they win out (including a win over first place UALR), they should make the tourney field. If they win three of their last four, they'll need for a couple of second-division conference mates to stumble badly in the next ten days. Last year, our team was ineligible for post-season play due to a low APR attributable to the Jason Capel train wreck. This season, the Apps are dangerously close to eliminating themselves with their poor play.

Hopefully, the Apps will catch Ga South on tired legs tonight and get some pay-back for the last three games between the two rivals--all losses for the good guys. The Eagles have played four games in the last eight days.

GaSo, for some reason, always plays low-scoring games against Georgia State. A 54-52 win on Tuesday and 69-66 OT loss in Atlanta. Of course they followed it up last time with the delayed-til-Monday combined 201-points-in-regulation game I want erased from my memory.

Tonight will either have an Eagles team that the 10th man on the bench hits 3's falling out of bounds or they won't be able to hit a barn door with a banjo. The big question is if App plays like they want to go to NOLA.

Lets Go App!!! Lets get it done in these final 4 games and roll in to New Orleans with a head of steam!

32-8...We are shooting a wicked 13%...GS is shooting 80% from 3.

Now down to 11%. There's something dreadfully wrong with this team; something deep inside. I find myself wanting to walk away from the screen to find something better to do. This is a pitiful display. An inexcusable display.

Bobby Knight couldn't coach this team to ten wins. Our players just aren't very good at basketball.

I'll never, ever forget that Byington called a TO with 18 seconds left in the half with his team up 49-23. That's serious bush league. Kick 'em in the teeth while they're down and out stuff. That's to be remembered!

52-23 at the half...GS on their way to a 4th straight win over the Apps.

This team is not very good but we have lost several games at the buzzer. That's what is the most frustrating part of it.

I understand the frustration, but it was the FIRST HALF. It's more of a sad commentary on our team and/or fans if we think an opposing team should try to not score before a game is even half over, because they are beating us too badly. What is bush league to me is this App team that is getting beaten like a cheap drum. JMO.

We just might be the worst defensive team in the country. It seems every team shoots above their average when they play us.

yeah, we got blown out, but dang GS's fans sound/act like high school students, actually pretty low IQ high school students. I've never been to game there in any sport, but I now understand what many posters have talked about for years.....pretty classless.

I had the volume down low while I was watching the game and doing a few other things, but what were they doing that was classless. What I heard was a fan base enjoying a utter stomping of a rival. But I may have missed something as I said.

I thought I heard some F#*@ App State chants, or FU App State.
