The fourth place Texas State Lady Bobcats RPI # 135 (16-10, 11-7 Sun Belt) will face our RPI #172 Lady Apps (13-14, 8-10 Sun Belt) at 5 PM this afternoon. The seventh place Apps, with a win and a little help from GaSouth, could move into a tie for sixth place with Texas-Arlington. The Apps are tourney-bound. Not too shabby for a team predicted to finish dead last in their first SunBelt campaign.
The Apps are led by 6-2 senior star forward Maryah Sydnor who will likely be playing her next-to-last-game on the HCC home hardwood. Sydnor is tied for second in the Sun Belt at 17.6 ppg and is third in the conference at 8.9 rpg.
Erin Peoples, a 6-0 combo-guard, leads the Bobcats with a 17 ppg average. The Bobcats have four other double-figure scorers and their team leads the conference in shooting from behind the arc.
By the numbers, including their home court advantage, the Apps are favored by one point. Another virtual tossup.
RealTimeRPI.com has the Apps winning by eight. That would reverse a loss to the Bobcats in San Marcos in Mid-February.
